5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

Becoming a CNA comes with challenges you should prepare for. First, the job is physically demanding, requiring long hours on your feet, lifting, and constant movement. Second, management often prioritizes efficiency over employee well-being, which can feel disheartening. Third, expect to care for anywhere from 5 to over 21 patients, depending on the facility, which can make providing personalized care difficult. Fourth, while going above and beyond may seem noble, it can quickly lead to burnout if not balanced with self-care. Finally, have a plan for the future—this role is a great stepping stone, but it’s important to work toward long-term goals beyond being a CNA.

... Read moreAre you contemplating a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)? Understanding what to expect before diving in can significantly impact your experience. In addition to physical demands like long hours and lifting, you may encounter high patient loads that challenge personal connections. It's also vital to recognize the workplace dynamics, as management may emphasize efficiency, sometimes at the expense of employee well-being. Moreover, managing burnout is crucial. Striving for excellence is admirable, but balancing self-care with professional duties is essential to maintain your passion for caregiving. As you embark on this career path, think ahead—this role can be a gateway to advanced opportunities in healthcare. Ultimately, having long-term goals will guide your journey, ensuring you stay motivated and fulfilled in your CNA role.
