Microblading brows (What to expect) 🖋️‼️

My initial post gave you a peek into my experience, but I know there's so much more to consider, especially when you're aiming for those perfectly natural-looking brows. Achieving That 'Natural' Look (and what about Combo Brows?) One of the biggest concerns I had, and I know many of you share, is getting brows that look natural, not drawn on. My technician spent so much time during the brow mapping phase (just like in Step 2 of my journey!) to ensure the shape perfectly complemented my face. It’s not just about filling in gaps; it's about creating strokes that mimic real hair. If you're going for natural, make sure to communicate this clearly during your consultation. Some people also ask about 'combo brows,' which is a mix of microblading and powder (shading) for a slightly fuller, more defined but still soft look. I opted for pure microblading for that hair-stroke effect, but combo brows are a fantastic option if you want a bit more density! The Healing Process: What to REALLY Expect Okay, let's talk about the healing process – because it's a journey in itself! After the initial procedure (Step 7!), your brows will look quite dark and defined. Don't panic! This is totally normal. Days 1-5: Your brows will be at their darkest, and some mild redness or swelling might occur. This is when the color is most intense. Days 5-10: This is the 'scabbing' phase. Small scabs will form and naturally flake off. Crucially, do NOT pick them. Let them fall off on their own, no matter how tempting it is! Picking can pull out pigment and lead to patchy results. Days 10-14: The color will appear much lighter, almost like it's disappeared. This is called the 'ghosting phase' and it's also normal. The color will reappear as the skin fully heals. Weeks 2-4: The color starts to 'bloom' again, becoming more vibrant and settling into its final shade. Week 6-8: You'll typically have your touch-up appointment. This is essential to perfect the shape, add more pigment where needed, and ensure longevity. Throughout this, follow your brow technician's aftercare instructions diligently – usually involving gentle cleansing and applying a very thin layer of balm. Avoid excessive sweating, direct sun exposure, and swimming! Choosing Your Microblading Technician Wisely Finding the right person for your brows is probably the most important decision! I spent a lot of time researching my brow technician. Here’s what I recommend: Portfolio: Look at their 'before and after' photos. Do their clients’ brows look natural? Do they have experience with different skin types and desired looks (like 'very natural microblading')? Hygiene & Certifications: Ensure they operate in a clean environment and have all necessary licenses and certifications. Don't be afraid to ask! Consultation: A good technician will offer a thorough consultation, discussing your desired shape, color, and what's realistic for your brows. They should address any concerns, including if you've ever had issues like an 'unibrow' and how they can create a defined, flattering shape.
