Home for Christmas 🎄
YALL!…. I haven’t been home for Christmas in five years… and I couldn’t be more thankful that I am finally home! As a performer, I am constantly traveling. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my job and the opportunities but I am human and of course I get homesick. During Christmas there are a lot of opportunities that will usually pay more, and sometimes my family does come and visit. But last time that happened it was 2018! So let me tell you my favorite things that I get to do, see and the people I get to hang out with now that I’m finally home for the holidays!
1. Photoshoots 📸
I know this sounds extremely shallow, but now that I’m home I can catch up on my Instagram and schedule a lot of photo shoots to have a lot of photos to post so I am not too far behind. I do not post consistently at all! So next year in 2024 I am making myself a promise to be more consistent. Which means …. More photos, more photos shoots and more content! And working with a lot of local photographers are extremely fun!
2. Spending time with my dog 🐶
More like my baby boy! I got him when I was a senior in high school in 2016, I know Chihuahuas have a very long lifespan, but every moment counts. He is my whole world, and honestly the smartest and sweetest dog that I have ever had. don’t worry, I trained him not to be one of those ankle biter Chihuahuas, or the ones that constantly bark. He is a cuddle bug and a singer like his mama!!
3. Finally seeing snow ❄️
I haven’t seen snow in Kansas in the month of December since …. I don’t know when! It was magical!!! It felt like we were having a white Christmas and it was going to last all month but unfortunately it only lasted three days. Still grateful though! I saw snow in Alaska and other places that I was traveling during the holidays, but it’s different when it’s your own state and your home and you can actually enjoy it! Making super chocolatey hot chocolate, sitting by the fire and watching Hallmark movies truly set the vibe!
4. Pop-up Christmas shows 🎤
I got some of my theater friends together and put on a pop-up Christmas show! I absolutely love that I have talented friends, and the performers I associate myself with do not gate keep! If one of us has a gig, we will try to figure out how to get all of us involved or even get an audition. Thankfully, it was something that all of us could be a part of! All of the money went to a local charity that is raising funds and food for the homeless and low income communities in my city!
5. Spending time with my mom 🤍
Need I say more!? She is over the moon that I am home for the holidays! Actually, that is an understatement!! We are doing everything together! The holidays are always hard, considering I lost my father to pancreatic cancer in 2018. My mom and dad were so in love with each other! The type of couple that would constantly be touching and doing small little things for each other. I know that got super dark for a second but I just don’t want her to be alone! But being home helps me and definitely helps her. We love being together!
I’m so thankful to be back and relax with my friends and family. In between contracts, I usually take one month off. And of course that’s not during the holidays so being here for Thanksgiving and Christmas is just incredible!
