i used to be the girlie that had a nail salon appointment every 3 weeks but the last few years have changed.
so back in my middle school days my grandmother would take me with her on the weekends for nail appointments, we’d go shop around after getting my nails done and it really encouraged the feminine energy i came to embrace. when i was much younger i didn’t like getting my nails done and i got made fun of a few times for having “ugly feet”. i was t fond of wearing skirts or pretty much anything “girlie” i even went out of my way to avoid the color pink 😭 i really thought i was a tomboy for a while but honestly i just didn’t know how to be comfortable embracing girlhood, let alone my petite body (which is a whole other thing tbh) but eventually i grew into womanhood and came to love pampering myself and i carried that on with me once i was able to afford myself those luxuries. eventually i couldn’t keep up with the price of getting my nails done at salons and i started to feel like the quality and customer service i was getting wasn’t worth the amount i had to pay. i was always leaving the chair unsatisfied one way or another and they would gaslight me into feeling like i couldn’t correct a mistake..(black women; you already know people like to make it seem like we’re being raging bitches for standing up for ourselves) i did give independent nail techs a try but by then i was already more interested in figuring out how to DIY to pamper myself without having to spend nearly as much. ive been doing my toes for a long time now and ive gotten sooo much better to the point you can really tell i did them at home if i didn’t say lol. i love how fresh i feel after making my feet pretty 😍 i hope to establish a really good routine with my nails soon #pedicure #DIY #nailcare #trend
