Mini Study Material Haul: Micro Japanese Lesson

Just dropped by Popshelf which is new to my area and stumbled upon a handy purple organizer for my Genki Homework and Japanese notes. Picked up some matching purple sticky notes for labeling my textbooks too.

They've got this cool color-coded system with journals, pens, and pads. Of course I grabbed a matching purple pen for my note taking!

I also found a cute plum blossom-themed notebook with a pink pen, perfect for random haikus. Usually, I type notes on my phone, but having a dedicated notebook seems like a nice change. Popshelf might not have much right now in my area, but the setup was pretty neat!

Here's a short mini Japanese lesson on buying things in Japan:

"I will buy" is translated to "買います (kaimasu)" in Japanese.

"I bought" is translated to "買いました (kaimashita)" in Japanese.

So, if you want to say "I will buy a book," it would be "本を買います (Hon o kaimasu)."

And to say "I bought a book," it would be "本を買いました (Hon o kaimashita)."

What did you buy recently? Comment in Japanese!$

... Read moreEver since I stumbled upon those amazing finds at Popshelf, I've been so excited about revamping my Japanese study routine! You know how much a beautiful study setup can boost your motivation, right? For me, creating aesthetic Japanese notes isn't just about making them look pretty; it actually helps me retain information better and makes studying less of a chore. If you're like me and dreaming of those picture-perfect *aesthetic Japanese study notes*, here are some of my favorite tips, inspired by my recent haul: First, color-coding is your best friend. I've started using my new purple organizer to keep different sections of my Genki homework and Japanese notes separate. Then, with my *pastel sticky notes*, I assign colors to different grammar points, vocabulary types (nouns, verbs, adjectives), or even kanji readings. For example, all verb conjugations might be in blue, while new kanji gets a green sticky note. It makes reviewing so much faster and more visually engaging! Next, think about your layout. Instead of just scribbling, try to create clear sections. Use headings for topics, bullet points for lists, and leave plenty of white space. This makes your japanese study notebook aesthetic and easy to read. My plum blossom-themed notebook is perfect for dedicating a page to a new grammar concept or practicing my hiragana and katakana with a neat, structured layout. The pink pen that came with it makes writing feel extra special! Don't forget the power of good pens. A smooth-writing pen makes a huge difference. I picked up a black pen with a purple cap that writes beautifully, and having a dedicated set of pens for my Japanese studies, perhaps even in different colors, encourages me to write more neatly and enjoy the process. Finally, integrate what you're learning directly into your aesthetic notes. Remember that mini Japanese lesson on "買います (kaimasu)" and "買いました (kaimashita)"? You can dedicate a section of your notebook to practicing these phrases. Write out sentences like "本を買います (Hon o kaimasu)" – "I will buy a book," and "本を買いました (Hon o kaimashita)" – "I bought a book," in your neatest handwriting. Then, add little visual cues or even small doodles next to them. This hands-on application solidifies the grammar and vocabulary. My First Time at Popshelf really showed me that you don't need fancy, expensive supplies to achieve an aesthetic study notes pastel look. It’s all about finding items that inspire you and then using them thoughtfully. Having a dedicated space for your notes, like with my new organizer, also helps keep everything tidy and ready for your next study session. What are your go-to tips for keeping your japanese school notes clean and inspiring?
