College study abroad home base: Barcelona!

This is your sign to come study abroad in Barcelona, Spain because these are just a few pictures from my camera roll in literally the past two days!! I am so amazed by this city and even more amazed that there’s only a month left here of this journey that has changed so many outlooks and perspectives for me. I can’t express enough how much I love it here and I’ll give you all my reasons in an upcoming post❤️‍🩹 seriously consider this location!! #lemon8college #lemom8partner #barcelonaspain #studyabroad #studyabroadtips

... Read moreWow, it feels like just yesterday I landed in Barcelona, and now there’s only a month left! My heart aches thinking about leaving this incredible city, but I promised to share why I'm so utterly in love with it and why studying abroad here has been one of the best decisions of my college life. For anyone considering a study abroad adventure, let me tell you, Barcelona offers some truly amazing benefits that go beyond just getting credits. First off, the cultural immersion is unparalleled. Every day is a discovery. Walking through the streets, I’m constantly amazed by the unique architecture – from buildings with stunning mosaic-tiled roofs that shimmer under the blue sky to the intricate ceilings in historic spaces. You’re not just reading about history; you’re living it! I’ve spent hours exploring Gaudi’s creations, like the vibrant, mosaic-tiled serpentine bench in Parc Güell, soaking in the artistic details that are literally everywhere you look. It's truly inspiring and makes learning about Spanish culture so much more dynamic than from a textbook. Then there's the personal growth and independence you gain. Navigating a new city, even one as welcoming as Barcelona, teaches you so much. I remember my first few walks home from class, getting lost in a narrow street only to stumble upon a grand, historic church with twin bell towers – moments like these become your everyday. It builds confidence in ways I never imagined, from ordering tapas in Spanish to finding my way through bustling markets. You learn to adapt, problem-solve, and truly stand on your own two feet, all while surrounded by breathtaking views, like the dramatic stone cross-like structures silhouetted against a cloudy sky. Academically, it's been fascinating to experience a different education system and learn from professors with unique perspectives. My classes often involve field trips, making the city itself an extension of the classroom. This hands-on approach to learning has really deepened my understanding of everything from art history to economics. And let's not forget the vibrant social life and travel opportunities. Meeting students from all over the world, not just my home country, has broadened my perspective immensely. We’ve shared countless laughs over paella and explored hidden gems together. Plus, Barcelona’s location makes weekend trips an absolute dream. While I've mostly focused on soaking in Spain, the accessibility to other European countries is a huge perk for many students. Finally, the sheer beauty and quality of life here are incredible. The weather is fantastic, the food is delicious, and there's always something to do, whether it's relaxing on the beach after class or enjoying a flamenco show. The daily amazement I feel seeing something new, like the artistry in a simple ceiling design, is something I'll carry with me forever. Seriously, if you're looking for a study abroad location that will change your life, ignite your curiosity, and offer endless benefits, Barcelona is it. I'm so grateful for every moment and can't recommend it enough!
