my day trip to JB 🧘♀️
hi everyone! here’s my experience for a one day trip to JB! we went on a thursday and took the express train there for the first time! it was definitely more swift and less walking was required compared to the normal queuing at customs! we reached woodlands train checkpoint at 8.30am and reached malaysia at 8.45am!
✧ 1st stop: Seven Oaks
📍Address: 134, Jalan Serampang, Taman Pelangi, 80400 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
- the interior was cozy and had enough sunlight for us to enjoy our meal!
🍽️ we ordered 2 Queen Benedicts (RM20) and a Bacon and Egg Bagel (RM20)! both dishes were satisfactory for our first meal at JB! we were initially there for their lunch menu items but unfortunately they only sell their lunch menu from 12pm onwards, so we had to order from the breakfast menu! however, we were not let down, the Queen Benedict was delicious, hot and definitely unique! the sauce drizzled on top was tangy and gave the dish the kick that it needed! the sautéed spinach was close to perfection too! (o^^o) i would go back there to try out their lunch menu items and will let y’all know when i do😍

✧ 2nd stop: B.side Room

- for those who want to thrift for cheaper, this is a place to visit! they have an array of pants, overalls and graphic tees! there are a few branded ones and harley davidsons! so check it out!! there are several thrift shops in the area so just walk the whole stretch!!
✧ 3rd stop: broos & co.

- an office concept cafe that is aesthetic inside and out! we took a few cute pictures and look at the printer that has a garden in it… 😍
🍽️ we ordered their recommendation, the flaming brownie (RM25) guys i’m not lying when i say that this is the best dessert i’ve had in JB…. 🤤 typing this out is making me drool…. we ordered some matcha drinks and a cold brew to complement the brownie and this cafe is a definitely must-visit!
💸 total damage: around RM90 for 4 items including 16% service tax!
✧ 4th stop: tufting nuts🪡
📍Address: 40-01, Jln Austin Heights 3/2, Taman Mount Austin, 81100 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia
- a fun & engaging activity for couples and friends! took around 3 hours to complete the whole process! including practice, demonstration and drying! the staff’s customer service was a 10/10, they were so patient and nice to us and made it a great experience 🤍
💸 total damage: RM297 for 3 people, we requested to do the whole process of gluing and cutting out our rugs (°▽°) to me this was worth every cent!
✧ 5th stop: basilico

- a very warm and cozy themed restaurant 😍 but not that cute for taking food pictures >:( it came with complimentary focaccia bread and water! the waiting time was short and staff are efficient and welcoming!
🍽️ we ordered the Honey Goat Cheese Pizza (RM45.90), Gorgonzola Cheese and Winter Truffle Gnocchi (RM35.9), Basil Pesto and Buffalo Cheese Pasta (RM36.90) and Jumbo Prawns Squid Ink Pasta (RM39.90)! (yes we ordered 3 pasta dishes..) the best dish of the day was definitely the Gorgonzola Cheese and Truffle Gnocchi! it was creamy, soft and packed with flavour 🤤❤️ another recommendation would be the Squid Ink Pasta, it was packed with flavour and spices, and the prawns was plump and fresh! i would definitely come back here as this restaurant is by far the BEST italian restaurant i’ve eaten at JB! a 12/10 for me! (´∀｀*)

Seven Oaks served up a delicious Queen Benedict that truly kicked off my culinary adventure. Meanwhile, Broos & Co.’s flaming brownie is a standout dessert that I highly recommend pairing with their refreshing matcha or cold brew. If you want to add a creative twist to your trip, the tufting rug workshop at Tufting Nuts is such a unique experience. It offers a fun, hands-on crafting activity perfect for groups. Plus, the staff are incredibly patient and friendly, enhancing the overall fun. Ending your day with a warm meal at Basilico is the perfect way to relax. Their Gorgonzola Cheese and Winter Truffle Gnocchi is creamy and bursting with flavor, and the squid ink pasta with jumbo prawns offers a delightful savory finish. For what to wear, opt for comfortable casual clothing since you’ll be walking between various spots and engaging in activities like tufting. Light layers are ideal to manage Johor’s tropical climate. Overall, this itinerary blends delicious food, shopping, and creative experiences, making for a fulfilling and fun day trip to Johor Bahru.
