Strong ≠ no tummy
From my personal fitness journey, I've learned that having a strong and healthy body doesn't necessarily mean achieving the idealized flat tummy that media often portrays. For example, after running 5 miles and squatting 315 pounds in a workout, my stomach might not look 'flat' but the strength and endurance I've developed are undeniable. This experience challenged the common misconception that a strong body must have a lean, toned midsection. Strength is about capability, endurance, and how your body performs in real tasks—not just how it looks in the mirror. Focusing on lifting heavy weights like squats or increasing your running stamina builds muscles and improves cardiovascular health, which sometimes involves core muscles that might look different than expected. Furthermore, factors like genetics, body fat distribution, and muscle composition influence tummy appearance. It's essential to celebrate what the body can do rather than only how it appears, recognizing that strength comes in many forms. Embracing your unique body shape while pushing your physical limits can help build a confident, resilient mindset. Remember, a strong body supports a strong mind—something far more valuable than chasing aesthetic standards alone.
