Girl math time! I spent $321 thrifting but saved $3,045 compared to online prices... so technically I made money today. I don’t make the rules 😌
@Google invited me to the ultimate thrift day in Montreal: brunch first (obviously 🥐) at Darling, then 3 thrift stops (@chezfloh , @marchefloh , and @le.ninety ) where we got to test their Google AI tools IRL.
The star of the day for me was Google Lens: you point it at anything and it finds it online. That $225 chair? A vintage Sigurd Ressel worth $2,663. The $38 Polo Ralph Lauren crewneck? $367 and sold out online. The $58 navy Polo dress? $336 on Farfetch.
If you resell thrift finds, this is THE hack. How many gems have we all walked past just because we didn’t know their value?? There’s so much money sitting in random thrift store corners.
And it works the other way too: I scanned a vase I loved and Lens pulled up a bunch of similar ones in different colors and styles. So if the one in store is chipped or broken, you can still find your dream version online.
They also showed us the virtual try-on tool (you upload your photo and try on anything from Google’s sites) obsessed, but that’s a story for another day 👀
