Been holding it in for weeks but it’s extremely hard to not get bitter when someone keeps lying to your face.

... Read moreDealing with dishonesty from someone close can be very emotionally draining. From personal experience, I've found that suppressing feelings for too long often leads to bitterness and stress that affect both your mental and physical health. One helpful approach is to acknowledge your emotions honestly without letting them consume you. When repeated lies occur, it’s natural to want to confront the issue immediately. However, sometimes direct confrontation may not resolve the situation or could even make it worse. Instead, taking a step back to reflect can be powerful. Practicing humility and patience allows you to maintain your dignity without stooping to bitterness. Another important aspect is to focus on your own wellbeing and boundaries. This includes limiting your interactions with the person if possible, distracting yourself with positive activities, and seeking support from trusted friends or counselors. It’s essential to remind yourself that not everything needs to be addressed right away, and as the wise saying goes, “Stand back, stay humble, and let God fight this battle.” This mindset helped me find peace when I felt overwhelmed by deception. Ultimately, forgiveness and letting go do not mean condoning the lie but freeing yourself from the negative hold it has on you. Engaging in mindfulness practices such as meditation and journaling can further aid in processing your emotions healthily. Remember, taking care of your inner peace is the best way to overcome the hurt caused by others’ dishonesty and move forward in a positive direction.
