My grief journey

On May 26, 2026 I lost my daughter during birth. My journey through grief has been traumatic and full of tears these last 2 months. I crave peace, beauty, softness and I try to capture the feeling in photos whenever I can.

... Read moreExperiencing the loss of a child during birth is a profound and life-altering event that fills every day with grief and pain. From my own journey and what I’ve learned from others, I’ve come to understand that grief is deeply personal and often unpredictable. The initial weeks might be overwhelmed by shock and numbness, but as time goes on, it can transform into waves of sorrow, moments of unexpected beauty, and a longing for peace. One powerful way to cope that resonates with many, including myself, is seeking and capturing beauty in everyday life. Whether it’s through photography of soft natural scenes like flowers or gentle light, or creating small rituals that honor your loved one’s memory, these acts can offer glimpses of hope and comfort. Photography, in particular, provides a form of catharsis—allowing the grieving parent to express feelings that words cannot fully capture and preserving fleeting moments of serenity within the chaos of loss. I’ve noticed that looking at art and nature can feel like a quiet conversation with the emotions we carry — a way to feel connected, understood, and grounded. In my experience, focusing on the subtle details—the flow of petals, the gentle sway of leaves, or the delicate dance of butterflies—helps me anchor myself to the present and find moments of softness amid the trauma. Support from online communities and hashtags like #griefjourney or #infantloss can also be incredibly validating, reminding us that we are not alone in our pain. Sharing our experiences and photos can foster a sense of solidarity and healing. Ultimately, grief does not follow a linear path, and each person’s journey is unique. Embracing both the sorrow and the beauty that can emerge from it may help us to gradually find peace and honor the memory of those we’ve lost in a gentle and meaningful way.

Grieving the loss of someone who’s still alive
Losing someone important to you due to their own choices can be one of the most difficult experiences any human could endure. The sheer part of letting go is the hardest. Why would you let go of someone that’s still there? Doesn’t that show YOU’VE given up? Or maybe you agree to the choice as well?

Tip 1, 'Feel What You Feel,' explains that grief isn't linear, displayed over a serene lake at sunrise or sunset with a misty horizon.

Grief doesn’t just disappear. It sits in your chest, changes shape, and pops up when you least expect it. Some days you’re fine, others you’re crying in the car over a song you didn’t even like before. You don’t ‘move on’… you just learn how to carry it without letting it crush you. Which stage do

Grief has been one of the hardest things I’ve had to carry, and one thing I’m learning is that the Bible does not tell us to pretend we’re okay. It shows us a God who is near to the brokenhearted, who allows us to pour out our hearts, and who understands tears. Grief is not weakness. It is human

Grief doesn’t follow a straight line… some days you’re laughing, and the next day you’re back in tears. That doesn’t mean you’re failing it means you’re human. 💓The Bible reminds us that there’s a time to mourn and a time to dance (Ecclesiastes 3:4), and through it all, God is near to the brokenhea
