What’s your Genshin Main?

Hey fellow Travelers! I'm absolutely buzzing with excitement for the Genshin Impact anime adaptation. Seriously, Ufotable animating Teyvat? It's going to be epic! But amidst all the hype, one question keeps popping into my head, and I bet it's on a lot of yours too: Who will be the main character? Naturally, the most obvious choice for the anime's main character would be the Traveler themselves, either Aether or Lumine. Their journey is the core narrative of the game, after all. We follow them across Teyvat, searching for their lost sibling and uncovering the world's deepest secrets. It makes perfect sense to center the anime around their perspective. However, the anime might choose to focus on one twin exclusively, which could spark some interesting debates among fans! Will it be Aether, who players often pick as the default in promotional materials, or Lumine, who has a strong following too, perhaps like my own in-game main? Then there's Paimon, our emergency food, I mean, our trusty companion! She's always by the Traveler's side, providing commentary, exposition, and a good laugh. While she's an integral part of the game's experience, I doubt she'd be the sole main character. More likely, she'd continue her role as a hilarious and helpful sidekick, guiding our true protagonist through their adventures. But what if Ufotable takes a different approach? Could the anime be an anthology, perhaps dedicating arcs to different regions and their Archon Quests, with the Traveler being a recurring but not always central figure? Imagine an entire arc focused on Venti and the fight for Mondstadt's freedom, or Zhongli's poignant story in Liyue. We've spent so much time with these characters in the game, uncovering their personal stories, and seeing them shine as protagonists in their own right would be incredible. Personally, if I had to pick, I'd love to see the Traveler as the main, specifically Lumine, purely because I picked her as my main in the game! I feel such a connection to her journey. But I'm also really hoping for some expanded backstories and interactions for characters like Kazuha or Raiden Shogun. Imagine seeing their pasts brought to life with Ufotable's animation quality! It would be a dream come true for me, and I'm sure for many others who main these characters in game. There are so many fan theories swirling around, with some hoping for a fresh, original story set within Teyvat, perhaps focusing on a new character. While that's an exciting prospect, I think sticking to the Traveler's journey offers the most emotional depth and connection for existing fans. Ultimately, no matter who they choose, I just hope the anime captures the magic, lore, and heart of Genshin Impact that we all love. What about you?
