How I Make My Press-Ons Last Longer 💅🏾🪻
Can we talk about how cute these press-ons are? The lavender, the butterflies, the little crystals…this set is everything. But as pretty as they are, I also want them to stay on longer than a day or two, so the technique really matters.
I always start with clean, dry nails. I push my cuticles back, lightly buff away the shine, and wipe each nail with alcohol to remove any oil or residue. That prep step makes a huge difference because adhesive will not hold as well if there is lotion, cuticle oil, or moisture left on the nail.
Before I apply anything, I size all ten press-ons. I want each one to fit from sidewall to sidewall without sitting on my skin. If one is a little too wide, I lightly file the sides until the fit looks right.
For this set, I used my VEGE SISTER solid adhesive gel. I apply a small amount inside the press-on, place it near the cuticle at a slight angle, and slowly lower it onto my natural nail. Doing it this way helps prevent air bubbles and gives me a smoother application.
Then I place one finger at a time inside my little pink cat UV light and let the adhesive gel cure.
The biggest lesson I have learned is not to rush the prep or use too much adhesive. Once I am finished, I also try not to soak my hands or do anything too rough with them right away.
Honestly, the application itself is the easy part. Taking a few extra minutes to prep, size, and place each nail correctly is what gives me the best results and longer wear. And with a set this cute, I definitely want to keep them on as long as possible. 💜🦋
