I Walked Away and Allah Provided

Sometimes, you don’t realize how much a work environment is weighing you down until you step into a better one.

Leaving my previous job wasn’t an easy decision, and for most people, this post will probably come as a surprise. But in January, I walked away. The overwhelming anxiety I had been carrying for so long finally pushed me to make a change. I left behind a job where communication was difficult, expectations were unclear, and I often felt like I was left to figure things out on my own—only to be met with frustration instead of guidance. Every mistake felt catastrophic, and every task came with the fear that I was missing some unspoken rule I was just *supposed* to know.

So, I made Umrah. I stood in front of the Kaaba and prayed for something better—for work that wouldn’t drain me, for a job where I felt valued, for an environment where I could actually thrive.

And Allah provided.

I’ve only been at my new job for a short time, and I know things may get more challenging as I settle in. No job is perfect, and there will always be difficult days. But from day one, my attorneys have praised my work product, apologized when they forgot to tell me something (instead of acting like I should have just known), and taken the time to meet with me to explain exactly what they’re looking for. Instead of feeling like I’m always bracing for impact, I feel supported. The overwhelming anxiety I carried every day? It’s nonexistent here. I can actually focus on doing my job well because I’m being given the tools and feedback to succeed.

Change is scary, but staying in a place that no longer fits is even harder. If you’re feeling stuck, trust yourself—and more importantly, trust Allah. There are workplaces that will value and support you, and when you put your faith in Him, He will guide you exactly where you need to be.
