Bible Study Method for Beginners

... Read moreThe 3-Layer Bible Study Method is an excellent tool for those wanting to dive deeper into Scripture, particularly the Gospels like Matthew, Mark, and Luke. This method encourages studying a passage by exploring three key questions: What is happening in the passage? Who is involved, and what is their teaching or message? What personal change or action does the passage call for in the reader’s life? This technique is especially useful for passages such as Luke 23:32-43, where Jesus’ interaction with the criminals on the cross reveals profound spiritual truths. By asking "What’s Happening?" the reader gains situational context—understanding the narrative and events taking place. The next step, "What Does This Reveal?" focuses on extracting theological insights and Jesus’ teachings, clarifying His purpose and message. Finally, the method prompts self-reflection with "What Must Change in Me?"—encouraging application of the passage to one’s own life, fostering spiritual growth and transformation. This layered approach not only reinforces comprehension but also makes Bible study more engaging and meaningful. Additionally, integrating this method with Bible journaling can enhance retention and personal connection. Journaling your insights, questions, and prayers related to the passage deepens your devotion and helps track your spiritual journey over time. Overall, the 3-Layer method supports believers at any stage in their faith walk to engage Scripture thoughtfully and live out its teachings more fully. By focusing on worship, Jesus’ purpose, and personal transformation, this study approach can enrich your daily Bible reading and inspire a closer walk with Christ.
