Download These Travel Apps ASAP

I’m an international travel girlie and have tried soooo many things in an effort to make traveling more seamless. Here are the apps that I would recommend you download ASAP, especially if you’re traveling internationally.

🌎 MOBILE PASSPORT CONTROL is a great FREE alternative to global entry. All you have to do is complete the 6 questions on the app when you land back in the US, save the QR code, and enter the MPC line at customs. It’s often shorter than the global entry line and sooo many people miss it.

🌯GRAB is a rideshare app and food delivery app in one. It’s available in most Asian countries and some African countries and I’ve used it in the past to order cars, tuk tuks, and food while staying in different countries in Asia.

🚙 BOLT is a rideshare app that’s very similar to Uber. It’s available in Europe and in some African countries and the cars are marked (really big on the side) that they’re BOLT cars so you can’t miss your driver.

Save this for your next trip!

... Read moreOkay travel fam, building on my earlier app recommendations, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into how these apps actually work and what you can expect when you use them. When I say 'screenshot worthy,' I mean these apps are so user-friendly, you'll wish you had them sooner! Mobile Passport Control (MPC) – Your Fast Pass Through Customs: When you first open the MPC app, the interface is incredibly clean and straightforward. You'll immediately see options to 'Add New Trip' or view any 'Pending Submissions.' The core functionality involves answering those 6 simple questions about your travel history and declarations. It's a quick, guided form that's easy to navigate, even when you're tired after a long flight. Once you submit, the magic happens: you get that all-important QR code! Visually, it's a clear, scannable square that customs officials will quickly process. I always take a mental screenshot of where it is on my phone so I can pull it up instantly at the MPC line. It’s so satisfying to bypass those long lines, especially when you’re eager to get home! Grab – Your Asian Travel Companion: Picture this: you open Grab, and instantly you see a map showing your current location, just like other rideshare apps. But what truly sets it apart are the vibrant icons for 'Car,' 'Bike,' 'Food,' and even 'Mart' (for groceries!). When you book a ride, you simply select your destination on the map, choose your preferred vehicle type, and the estimated fare pops up clearly. You'll also see your driver's photo and car details for peace of mind. For food, it’s a visual feast of local restaurants, with tempting pictures of dishes making ordering a breeze, even if you don't speak the local language. It's incredibly intuitive and has been a lifesaver for me when I'm hungry late at night in a new city! Bolt – European & African Rides Made Easy: Similar to Grab for rides, Bolt's app quickly shows you nearby cars on a map. What I love, and what you'd definitely notice if you pulled up an in-app screenshot, is how clearly it displays the driver's information and the car model. In many places, Bolt cars are famously branded with big logos, which is a huge visual cue for feeling secure and easily spotting your ride. When your car arrives, there's no mistaking it! The app itself is very streamlined for booking, tracking your journey, and processing payments – super easy to follow and consistently reliable. My biggest tip? Download these apps before you even leave home and play around with them a bit. Familiarize yourself with the layout and functions. Trust me, having a visual idea of what to expect in the app makes your actual travel day so much smoother and stress-free. Happy travels!
