Britsgeekstop Late Night Snack for Two
Just a quick late night snack. #fast #easy #simple #latenight #britsgeekstop
My partner and I used to struggle with those late-night cravings. You know, when you just want something but don't want to derail your healthy eating goals. We've been on a mission to find the perfect late night healthy snack protein options that are easy to prepare and truly satisfying for two. After some trial and error, I've compiled our go-to list that's made such a difference! First off, why protein for a late night snack? Protein is fantastic because it helps you feel fuller for longer, which can prevent overeating. It also supports muscle repair overnight, especially if you’ve been active during the day. Plus, choosing healthy fats and complex carbs alongside your protein ensures a sustained energy release, preventing blood sugar spikes that can disrupt sleep. Here are some of our absolute favorite healthy protein snack ideas that are quick to whip up: Greek Yogurt Parfait (for two!): This is a staple in our household. We grab two small bowls, fill them with plain Greek yogurt (it’s loaded with protein!), and top with a handful of fresh berries like blueberries or raspberries. A sprinkle of chia seeds or a few crushed almonds adds healthy fats and extra crunch. It’s light, refreshing, and incredibly satisfying. Cottage Cheese with Sliced Apple: Don't knock it 'til you try it! Cottage cheese is another protein powerhouse. A small serving for each of us, paired with thin slices of a crisp apple, provides a wonderful balance of sweet, savory, and creamy textures. A tiny dash of cinnamon can elevate the flavor even more. Mini Turkey & Whole-Wheat Wraps: For something a bit more savory, we love making small wraps. Take a couple of small whole-wheat tortillas, spread a thin layer of hummus, add a few slices of lean turkey breast, and some spinach. Roll them up and slice into bite-sized pieces. It's surprisingly filling and packed with lean protein. Hard-Boiled Eggs with a Pinch of Salt: Simple, effective, and always in the fridge. Two hard-boiled eggs each provide a fantastic protein boost without any fuss. They're super convenient if you’ve prepped them earlier in the week. Edamame Pods: Steamed edamame is a personal favorite. Just a cup or so (for each of us) of these vibrant green pods, lightly salted, makes for an engaging and protein-rich snack. The act of shelling them can also be quite mindful and relaxing. Small Protein Smoothie: If we’re feeling like something blended, a small protein smoothie does the trick. We’ll combine a scoop of our favorite protein powder (whey or plant-based), a handful of spinach (you won't taste it!), half a banana, and some unsweetened almond milk. Split into two small glasses, it’s a delicious and digestible way to get that protein in. When planning your late night snacks, remember portion control is key. Even healthy foods can lead to discomfort if eaten in large quantities right before bed. We try to finish our snack at least an hour before we plan to sleep. Finding what works best for your body is part of the journey. These ideas have certainly helped us curb those midnight munchies in a much healthier way!
