How We Spent the Day in Ensenada

So many people ask, 'Is Ensenada worth visiting?' especially if you're on a cruise with a limited stop. My honest answer after our recent Carnival Firenze trip? Absolutely! Don't listen to the naysayers – we had an incredible day, and I want to share how you can too. First off, getting off the ship in Ensenada is surprisingly easy. It was basically a 'walk-off' for us, no tenders required. Just a heads-up, though: there are always dogs sniffing bags at the port, so be mindful of what you're carrying. Once you exit the immediate cruise port area, you're free to explore. We started our day with a delicious breakfast of Huevos Rancheros from Blue Iguana Cantina, which was a fantastic way to fuel up for our adventures. One of the highlights of our day was a pre-booked massage. We actually found this gem through a recommendation from 'Massage Confessions Posted' and it did not disappoint! For just $68, we got a one and a half hour couples massage, and it even included free pick-up and drop-off from the cruise port. We had to walk about 10 minutes to a specific blue glass building near the terminal entrance to meet our ride, but it was a pleasant stroll. The masteuses were incredibly professional and gave an excellent massage – truly a perfect way to relax and unwind during our port day. After our incredible massage, we were starving! We were on the hunt for authentic local food, and a local friend pointed us towards an amazing taco truck. Let me tell you, these were some of the most authentic Mexican tacos I've ever had. They had several hot sauces to choose from, from mild to super spicy, catering to all tastes. You absolutely have to try the street food here; it's a game-changer. Of course, no Mexican vacation is complete without a refreshing drink! We headed over to Bullo's Place and grabbed some fantastic mango margaritas. The atmosphere was lively, and it was a great spot to people-watch and soak in the local vibe. Before heading back to the ship, we made sure to do some Mexican shopping. The area around the port is bustling with vendors. You can find everything from touristy souvenirs to genuinely handmade crafts. I even spotted some rather convincing 'fake Ray Bans' if that's your thing! It's a fun experience, but remember to haggle a bit – it's part of the culture. Honestly, we almost didn't get off the ship because of what others had said about Ensenada being 'just a port.' I'm so glad we didn't listen! Our day was packed with unique experiences, delicious food, relaxation, and fun. So, next time you're debating whether to explore Ensenada, I wholeheartedly recommend it. It's truly a vibrant city with plenty to offer for a memorable day trip.
