Windows 10 is stable, the little bug won't survive!

After Microsoft released the Windows 10 security update for May 2025 (KB5058379), a number of users reported that their machines automatically entered the BitLocker recovery screen after installing the update and restarting the system, which prevented normal access to Windows. In some cases, the machine failed to boot up or other abnormalities occurred, especially on devices from Lenovo, Dell and HP brands.

While this is not a problem for all machines, there are ongoing reports from users on Reddit and Microsoft forums. There is no official solution from Microsoft. Some users have found that shutting down the Intel Trusted Execution Technology (TXT) feature in the BIOS allows them to boot into the system again. TXT is a security system that checks the authenticity of system elements before allowing important tasks to be performed.

There are also alternative approaches that may alleviate the problem, such as shutting down Secure Boot and Virtualization Technologies (such as Intel VT-x, VT-d) in the BIOS, monitoring the status of Microsoft Defender System Guard Firmware Protection, and shutting down Firmware Protection features through the Policy Group or Registry if the policy is enforced by the organization.

Or you have to find the BitLocker key in Microsoft Account or the key that we backed up ourselves to unlock. Without this key, you can't enter Windows. You only have to reclear the machine because all the data is encrypted. You can't remove the SSD to another machine.

However, these recommendations have not been directly certified or confirmed by Microsoft, and the BleepingComputer website itself has not received any official clarification from Microsoft, thus advising users to act with caution, especially in cases where security features must be turned off, which may affect the performance or security of the system.
