Before You Reply to That Recruiter… Check This 🚩

I almost just deleted this email and moved on.

But the more I looked at it, the more little things didn’t add up. 👀

A “recruiter” had reached out about a job opportunity using details from my actual professional background.

It looked personalized. It sounded flattering. And if you’re actively looking for a job, I can see exactly why an email like this could catch you at the right moment.

So instead of responding, I started checking.

🚩 Did I actually apply?

🚩 Does the sender’s email match the company?

🚩 Is the personalization information that could be publicly available?

🚩 Is there urgency or fake familiarity?

🚩 Can I verify the opportunity independently?

And then there was one more thing I wasn’t expecting. 👀

Swipe through for the twist ➡️

The biggest reminder I took from this: personalized doesn’t automatically mean legitimate.

And when technology makes something easier to consume, we still have to verify the things that matter.

Pause. Verify. Report phishing. 🔒
