I Used a Foldable for a Year — Here’s the Real Tea ☕📱
Everyone's talking foldables right now, so here's what a full year with one actually taught me — not the promo-video version 😂.
The plot twist? I use it folded most of the time. The crease I worried about? Forgot it in a week. Durability?
My case broke before the phone did 😭.
Swipe through for the honest breakdown — the good, the awkward, and what just becomes normal. 💜
After spending over a year with a foldable phone, I’ve come to realize that the reality of using one is quite different from the flashy promo videos that manufacturers release. For starters, although foldables are often advertised as devices to be unfolded and used like mini-tablets, I actually use mine folded most of the time. Simple everyday tasks—checking notifications, texting, quick photos, or phone calls—usually don’t require unfolding the device at all. The crease on the screen, which many potential buyers worry about, turned out to be a minor concern for me. I noticed it initially, but after about a week, I completely stopped paying attention to it. It became just a part of the phone’s character rather than a distraction. This highlights how some worries about foldables fade with regular usage. Durability was my biggest concern going in, especially relating to the foldable inner screen. I was quite clumsy with mine, dropping it multiple times. To my surprise, the phone itself held up incredibly well—far better than I expected. Ironically, it was the protective case that broke first rather than the device, which speaks volumes about the build quality. However, battery life is something to manage carefully since it varies significantly depending on how much you keep the phone unfolded, which can be a tradeoff for those used to traditional devices. One interesting observation is that not all apps are optimized for the big foldable screen, which means some experiences aren’t as seamless as you might hope. Also, using the device as a mini-tablet to take pictures sometimes feels a little awkward in public settings, although that might just be a personal preference. Ultimately, after a year, my foldable phone doesn’t feel futuristic anymore. It’s become a normal part of my daily tech routine, just a phone that transforms into a tablet when I want extra screen space. If you’re thinking about getting a foldable, it’s worth considering how you use your phone daily. If you value flexibility and multitasking on the go, it could be a great fit, but if you prioritize durability above all, don’t forget that protective accessories matter just as much. This firsthand experience has definitely shaped how I view foldable technology and its place in the current smartphone landscape.
