Sunrise in Buenos Aires Argentina

Buenos Aires Argentina is both majestic and tranquil. This heavily European influenced Latin American destination is underrated in my opinion. Maybe due to its lengthy distance from the United States, I rarely hear Buenos Aires brought up in world travel conversations. Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic are the Latin American countries that everyone always talks about. All great destinations, but Argentina should not be overlooked.

Comfortable climate, safe to walk at night, laid back environment, good food and wine, affordable prices, access to snow-capped mountain ranges (and Antarctica) all make Buenos Aires a viable world travel destination!

Buenos Aires
2023/6/5 Edited to

... Read moreWhen I first planned my trip to South America, Buenos Aires wasn't necessarily at the top of my list. Like many, I was drawn to the more frequently discussed destinations like Mexico or Brazil. But oh, how wrong I was! Buenos Aires, Argentina, truly captivated me, especially those majestic mornings. Waking up to witness the Buenos Aires sunrise transform the city's skyline was an experience I won't soon forget. The sky would paint itself in incredible shades of orange, pink, and blue, casting a magical glow over the historic buildings and bustling streets below. It's an aerial view that truly makes you appreciate the city's unique charm, a serene moment before the vibrant energy of the day takes over. I quickly discovered that this city is incredibly underrated. Many travelers seem to bypass it for its more flashy Latin American counterparts, but Buenos Aires offers a unique blend of European elegance and Latin American passion that's truly hard to find elsewhere. I felt completely at ease walking the streets at night, soaking in the laid-back yet sophisticated atmosphere. The comfortable climate made exploring a joy, whether I was strolling through charming neighborhoods like Palermo and San Telmo or relaxing in a park. It’s a city where you can truly immerse yourself without constant worry, a huge plus for any traveler. And let's talk about the food and wine! My taste buds were in heaven. From succulent Argentine steaks grilled to perfection at a traditional parrilla to savory empanadas you can find on almost every corner, the culinary scene is fantastic. And of course, pairing these incredible meals with a glass (or two!) of local Malbec wine was an absolute treat – a ritual I looked forward to every evening. What surprised me even more was how affordable everything was compared to other major international cities. This made my solo travel experience even more enjoyable, allowing me to indulge in delicious experiences and cultural tours without breaking the bank. It really felt like I was getting incredible value for every peso. For those who love panoramic views, finding a good spot to catch the sunrise over the Buenos Aires skyline is a must. While I enjoyed several vantage points from my accommodations, I heard wonderful things about the views from areas like Reserva Ecológica Costanera Sur, offering a different perspective of the city's outline against the rising sun as it illuminates the Rio de la Plata. It truly is a city that keeps on giving, from its vibrant tango culture and rich history to its surprisingly tranquil moments, especially during those early morning hours. If you're looking for an unforgettable travel destination that offers beauty, culture, safety, and affordability, don't overlook Buenos Aires. It's a gem waiting to be discovered, and those sunrises alone are worth the journey!
