Brazilians Do Not Enter Favelas
One thing I’ve found living in Rio de Janeiro is that most Brazilians stay out favelas. They won’t risk entering a favela even if just going to visit a touristic hot spot like Bar da Laje in Vidigal.
You may even find it difficult to get an uber or taxi to take you up there.
A friend took me to Bar da Laje, a high-end bar and grille in the Vidigal favela of Rio de Janeiro and we had a great time. She was, however, a little hesitant to take me.
