uni diary: full time studies, full time work
My journey to entering SUSS was rather a … thought-provoking one but I’m glad I took the leap of faith 🙂

📖 Early Childhood Education w Special Needs
I was accepted in SUSS in 2019 as a full time student when i was still a working as a teacher in MOE
Having that ‘stable income’ (& a BTO incoming ),
I questioned if I was financially ready to quit my job and focus on studies
& my answer was 👉🏼 NO 👈🏼
but I still went ahead with it, of course with some support and planning 💗🧠
☁️ but here’s how I did it ☁️

knowing the school system is so damn impt

❁ score at least 60% in PCOQ
my friends and I would gather, do readings and attempt each PCOQ tgt - this help us to score well (getting 100) & save time
❕PCOQ takes 5% of the mod grade!
❁ class part/ discussion board (db)
do our due diligence & participate
❕takes 5% of the mod grade too!
❁ non-academic graduation criteria

overseas experience
e-portfolio via portfolium
work attachment

I cleared the first 2 criteria in my first year
while e-portfolio, I would update my portfolium as I attend diff workshops org by school
❕to lessen my load in my final year, I update my portfolium at least once every semester!
I was exempted from work attachment ✌🏼
❕ research and find out your exemption - work attachment/ mods
everything place a part! 🎉

❕my friends and I would also exchange assignment papers. we would proof read each other’s paper and help to improve on the paper too

——> I did not appeal … not sure why my application got reviewed agn, not complaining ✌🏼

——> 4 stages: essay, cognitive test, debate, interview
——> research on the topic & prep for selection
5. attend selection interview
my selection was f2f & a tip for f2f, arrive early
early arrival = get your docs check earlier, take the document for online assessment & qp for essay
6. wait for results

Mental breaks and self-care also played an essential role; scheduling gym sessions and social time helped me maintain a balanced lifestyle amid the busy schedule. For those concerned about managing finances while studying full time, planning ahead and seeking support when possible provides stability. If you are applying to SUSS or facing the dual challenge of work and study, remember that consistent communication with uni friends, structured planning, and utilizing school resources can transform this demanding journey into an achievable and rewarding experience.
