The Monster In My Partner
The dim glow of the bar cast a warm light over the crowd as Sarah and Michael sat at the counter, their eyes scanning the room. They were the picture-perfect couple—charming, stylish, and effortlessly magnetic. Their laughter carried over the hum of conversation, drawing attention like moths to a flame.
It didn’t take long before their target arrived. A young couple, Aaron and Lisa, slid into the stools beside them. Sarah made the first move.
“That’s such a cute bracelet,” she said, pointing at Lisa’s wrist.
“Oh, thanks!” Lisa beamed.
Within minutes, the four were engaged in animated conversation. Sarah and Michael had an uncanny ability to make anyone feel special, and before long, Lisa and Aaron felt like they’d known them for years.
“You two should come over for a drink,” Michael offered casually. “We’re just a short drive from here.”
Lisa hesitated, but Aaron, already tipsy and enamored with the couple’s energy, nudged her.
“Sure, why not?”
The drive to Sarah and Michael’s home was filled with light-hearted banter. Their house, nestled in a secluded neighborhood, was a stunning modern masterpiece.
“Wow, this place is gorgeous!” Lisa exclaimed as they walked inside.
“We love it,” Sarah said with a warm smile, leading them to the living room. “Make yourselves comfortable. I’ll grab the wine.”
Minutes later, Sarah returned with four glasses of deep red wine. The conversation flowed easily, but there was a tension in the air—a silent undercurrent that only Sarah and Michael understood.
“So, how long have you been together?” Michael asked, leaning forward.
“Three years,” Aaron replied proudly, wrapping an arm around Lisa.
“Adorable,” Sarah cooed, but there was something cold in her eyes now.
Lisa noticed it first—the subtle shift in Sarah and Michael’s demeanor. The couple’s smiles were still there, but they no longer reached their eyes.
“I think we should get going,” Lisa said, standing abruptly.
“Oh, but the night’s just getting started,” Michael said, his voice smooth but laced with menace.
Before Lisa could respond, Michael pulled a knife from beneath the coffee table. Aaron jumped to his feet, but Sarah was quicker, striking him across the head with a heavy candlestick. Lisa screamed, her voice echoing in the spacious house, but no neighbors were close enough to hear.
The aftermath was swift and efficient. Sarah and Michael moved like seasoned predators, cleaning up the scene with practiced ease.
Later, as they sat in the kitchen, sipping wine from the same glasses they’d served their victims, Sarah glanced at Michael.
“They were a sweet pair,” she said, almost wistfully.
Michael smirked. “Sweet doesn’t mean smart.”
The couple laughed, their bond stronger than ever. They weren’t in love with each other—at least, not in the way most people understood love. Their connection was rooted in a shared darkness, a thrill that only they could provide each other.
Tomorrow night, they would return to the bar, flashing their perfect smiles and charming the unsuspecting. For Sarah and Michael, the hunt never ended.
