How I Style my Highboard
Right next to my workspace, I have a vintage highboard that serves as storage for various office supplies, tools, books, and more. The overall atmosphere in our home is characterized by mid-century modern wooden furniture, steel elements, and leather chairs in warm tones. However, I wanted the highboard area to have a more vibrant and playful atmosphere, almost like a little art museum of my own, while still maintaining a functional workspace.
I primarily decorated the top shelf of the highboard with items related to modern art. As a central piece on the wall, I hung a neon sign of Andy Warhol's Brillo Box. Below that, I placed Ron Arad's Tempered Chair Miniature - a modern and cool piece made of sheet metal, to complement the overall mood.
I added Jeff Koons' Balloon Dog toy, which gleams with chrome-like charm, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Can box. I wanted to experiment with bold colors and mix things up in this space,.
On the lower shelves, I arranged various furniture-related books, storage containers, and decorative items. The top compartment with sliding doors serves as a hidden storage space for miscellaneous items, keeping the area organized and tidy.
