I’ve kept this voicemail for years.

And I’ve kept the story behind it just as long😩.

There are SO many chapters of my life that I’ve never publicly told because,

even after everything, I was still trying to protect people I loved‼️

I literally wrote an entire book

(my life’s work) (still haven’t released it)

because there are whole chapters about people in my family , there was no way to avoid telling my story without them! I never wanted my version of events to change how other people viewed them though ‼️

Meanwhile, I’ve recently learned that apparently that same grace hasn’t been extended to me. 🙃

So now I’m sitting here wondering… at what point does protecting everybody else’s reputation become silencing your own story?

Because THIS voicemail has a backstory, y’all. 😭 And somehow this isn’t even close to the craziest part at all 🥺.

⚠️Do y’all want the story and the context behind it? ⚠️

Because I’m always the villain in there stories anyways so why am I even staying silent anymore 🧐 😂

Let me know what you think 💭 👇

From my experience, protecting loved ones often means suppressing parts of your own narrative to preserve their reputation. While this might seem noble at first, over time it can feel like you’re erasing your own identity. When I kept silent, I hoped to shield others, but I also sacrificed my own healing and voice. The voicemail I mention isn't just a message; it represents a chapter of my life filled with pain, love, and complex relationships. Having a ringtone personalized just for me by someone special is a small tender detail that speaks volumes about connection amid turmoil. Such nuances remind us that even in difficult stories, moments of affection and vulnerability exist. If you’ve ever faced the dilemma of protecting others' feelings while wanting to share your truth, you know the internal conflict it creates. Being labeled the "villain" in someone else’s story is draining, especially when you know your side hasn’t been heard. Sharing your experience, even just a part of it, can be liberating. It helps reclaim your narrative without diminishing others. I’m considering opening up more not to hurt anyone, but to affirm my own journey and encourage others who may feel silenced. In relationships, love can be complicated. Sometimes, it means setting boundaries to honor your story while respecting others. Listening to your inner voice is essential. If this resonates with you, reflect on the moments you’ve held back your truth for others. It might be time to reconsider what protecting means for you—because sometimes, protecting everybody else shouldn’t come at the cost of silencing yourself.
