New Zealand South Island Itinerary Part V

Hi Zesties, i’m losing stamina so creating Part V itinerary with #lemon8scrapbook

NZ Part IV, click to see the best accomodation

Day 8 (Tekapo)

- stopover at Lake Alexandrina, there’s just something about NZ’s lake; all of them are different and have its own uniqueness and beauty.

- Dip in hot pools at Tekapo Springs. If i had 10 things to do in Lake Tekapo, this would be the last one. Onsen hot pool had set a pretty high standard.

- dinner at Jack Rabbit

Day 9 (-> christchurch)

- departed Lake Tekapo after 3 days of amazing stay 🥲

- it will be about 3.5hrs drive to christchurch from Tekapo so cater some buffer time if you have activity, i.e start early

-head to a family owned alpaca farm at The Paca Shack. It’s pretty near to fairlie and dont forget to head to

Fairlie Bakehouse for their 🥧 afterwards. The pies are pretty good, something you won’t taste in Singapore

I will continue Christchurch activities in Part VI for the next post.

Thanks for keeping up till now, leave me a question if you have any!

Lake Tekapo
2024/4/1 Edited to

... Read moreIf you're planning a trip to New Zealand's South Island, I highly recommend spending several days around Lake Tekapo, especially if you appreciate breathtaking landscapes and cozy accommodations. One of my favorite experiences was staying at an Airbnb with stunning lake views—it's such a peaceful way to unwind after a day of exploring. Besides the well-known attractions like Tekapo Springs, don’t miss the opportunity to take a stroll around Lake Alexandrina; its tranquility and distinct scenery are perfect for nature lovers and photographers. For a tasty local treat, stopping by the Fairlie Bakehouse is a must—trust me, their pies offer an authentic taste you won’t find back home. Another highlight was visiting The Paca Shack, a family-run alpaca farm near Fairlie. It was delightful to meet the alpacas and learn about their care firsthand. If you're driving, give yourself enough time to enjoy the drive from Tekapo to Christchurch, as the scenery along the route is equally captivating. Lastly, I found planning activities with some buffer time essential to avoid rushing, especially since some drives between spots take a few hours. Overall, combining unique natural sites, local culinary gems, and warm accommodation options like the Airbnb I stayed at can create a memorable New Zealand South Island itinerary.
