Wow, here we are! 253 days to go until our wedding day! I can finally post the Save the Dates we’ve sampled!
🕊️Elegant Greenery
Loved this one! I actually think this was the one we were going to choose, but once we got our engagement photos done, I ended up wanting to completely change it and pick a save the date with a photo. We loved this one because (sage) green is in our color palette and we liked the layout.
🕊️Watercolor Blooms
I sampled this one because it’s pretty close to dusty blue (one of the colors in the palette) and it was close to the theme of our wedding website.
🕊️ Leafy Hoops
I actually really liked this one! It definitely came second but ultimately we just didn’t choose it.
🕊️WHAT WE CHOSE: Elegant Hydrangea
Okay… so when we got the engagement photos back, I was on the search for a new idea. I was being incredibly picky because I wanted it to match our wedding website, which at the time had blue flowers on it as a nod to the dusty blue. However, I didn’t like the save the date card that went with the theme we had.
Then lo and behold, I came across Elegant Hydrangea! It’s absolutely perfect because it’s got the blue, the green, AND gold, which is also part of the palette! I was obsessed! I went ahead and personalized it, ordered them, then changed our website to that same theme!
The box actually came in TODAY and I nearly cried upon seeing the cards. They’re so beautiful and I just can’t believe it’s all coming together! 🥹🫶🏻
... Read moreAfter sharing our journey to finding the perfect 'Elegant Hydrangea' Save the Dates, I wanted to dive a little deeper into some other amazing ideas and details that came up during my wedding planning research. It's truly a rabbit hole of inspiration out there!
One popular trend I kept seeing was funny Save the Date ideas. While we chose a more classic, elegant route, I absolutely adore how creative some couples get! If you're thinking of adding a touch of humor, consider these:
"We're Engaged (and she still hasn't run away!)" – A simple, witty phrase.
"Get Ready to Party! (But seriously, save the date.)" – A fun, direct approach.
Engagement Photo Props: Using props like a giant calendar with your date circled, or speech bubbles saying "He put a ring on it!" and "She said yes!" can add a playful touch to your photos, which then become your Save the Date.
Pop Culture References: If you and your partner share a favorite movie, TV show, or hobby, subtly incorporate it. Think "The One Where [Name] & [Name] Get Married" for Friends fans, or a superhero-themed design.
The key is to make sure the humor genuinely reflects your personalities and your relationship. You want your guests to smile and say, "That's so *them*!"
Speaking of themes, our dusty blue and sage green palette has been a big part of our decision-making, even down to potential outfit choices and decor. It’s amazing how a color can really pull everything together! When I was looking for inspiration on how to carry this theme throughout, I stumbled upon so many beautiful wedding dusty blue nails ideas. It's such a chic and subtle way to incorporate your wedding colors, especially for the bride! Imagine a beautiful dusty blue manicure for your special day, perfectly complementing your bouquet or perhaps your partner's tie. It adds a cohesive touch without being overwhelming. I definitely have a dusty blue mani on my radar for May 10th, 2025!
Another material that caught my eye during my stationery deep dive was vellum. Have you seen how gorgeous vellum can look on wedding invitations or even Save the Dates? It's that beautiful, translucent paper that adds such an ethereal and luxurious feel. You can use vellum as an overlay for your main Save the Date card, printing details or a delicate design on it, allowing your main card with your engagement photo (like ours!) to peek through. Or, you can have your entire Save the Date printed on vellum for a truly unique look. It’s a bit more delicate to handle, but the aesthetic payoff is incredible. It works wonderfully with minimalist designs or to soften vibrant colors. If we hadn't found our perfect hydrangea design, vellum was definitely a strong contender for adding that extra touch of elegance. It just adds an extra layer of sophistication to your stationery suite.
Wedding planning is all about those personal touches and making each element reflect you as a couple. I hope these extra insights help you on your own journey!
