📍 Phở Ông Cát Gia Truyền Since 1988

🤤 i LOVED the broth… it was so flavourful & super tasty! and the pho noodles were round instead of the traditional flat ones! only thing was that the soup was lukewarm rather than hot :-(
📍Oanh Bánh Mì
⭐️ Rating: 5/5
🤤 chanced upon this street stall near my hotel at district 1 and it was the perfect lazy dinner/supper! they open from 6pm-1am and it’s a family business.. it was seriously the best banh mi i’ve ever had…
📍 cơm tấm Ba Ghiền

📍 Cơm Tấm Mộc
⭐️ Rating: 4/5
🤤 this one was recommended to us by our cu chi tunnel tour guide!! located at ben thanh so it was our last meal before we went home and the pork was once again so so good! the spring rolls were not as good though….
Overall, the food in Ho Chi Minh was AMAZING (so is their coffee but will do a separate post for that!) and also really affordable!! restaurants were usually $12-15/pax and local food like banh mi or pho were usually $3-5/pax!!

If you’re planning a food trip to Ho Chi Minh City, here are some insider tips that really helped me enjoy the local cuisine even more. First, try to visit popular spots like Bánh Mì Huynh Hoa early in the morning to avoid long queues—arriving around 10am worked perfectly for me. Also, don’t hesitate to explore street food stalls like Oanh Bánh Mì, where family-run businesses serve authentic dishes with tons of character late into the night. For those curious about traditional dishes, bánh mì and cơm tấm stand out as must-tries, and visiting Michelin-recommended places like cơm tấm Ba Ghiền and Phở Việt Nam really elevated the experience. Each offers unique flavors, from tender pork to perfectly cooked noodles. If you’re a coffee lover, while I preferred classic brews, the famous egg coffee at Little Hanoi Egg Coffee is worth sampling at least once for the novelty—and the bustling local atmosphere adds to the charm. Another tip: don’t miss out on smaller joints like Home Saigon, where the fried spring rolls and mango passionfruit smoothie made a great combo for a casual meal. Lastly, prices in Ho Chi Minh are pretty affordable, with most restaurants costing around $12-15 per person, and local street foods priced even lower—perfect for enjoying a variety of dishes without breaking the bank. Hope this helps you savor every bite on your next trip!
