Is anyone else planning (hoping) to write a book?

Just throwing it out there - I saw this twelve chapters club thing online, which is an online community that aims to have twelve chapters (fully finished or draft or even outline) done by the end of 2025. Basically the idea is to do one chapter a month, which sounds kinda doable?

I’ve got two ideas at the moment - one is for twelve “essays” based on my time in Japan and France and travelling this year. The other is to turn what I’ve done with the NPO Saitama Agriculture support team to do a small booklet on Sayama tea. It’s probably better to focus on one, but I suspect I’ll be all scattershot and try to do two!

Does anyone else feel like they want to work on something longform this year? Please let me know if you join this challenge, I feel that most challenges get a lot of US/UK people and I always want to meet more Singaporeans!

Moreover, turning your personal experiences or passion projects—like my idea of writing about Sayama tea supported by my work with the NPO—into a booklet or essays not only makes writing more meaningful but also helps you build an authentic voice. Take time each day or week to chunk your writing into manageable sections, and you might find the 'one chapter per month' goal very doable. Lastly, don’t worry about perfection early on. Drafts and outlines are perfectly fine according to the club’s rules. The key is consistent creation and compiling your work securely, which avoids the frustrations of relying solely on social media platforms for your content. So why not give it a try and see where your writing takes you by the end of 2025?
