This saved my phone in Japan

My phone batt tends to drain faster in cold weather + heavy camera usage, so charge SPOT really saved my life! It’s a charger rental system - you can pay via your phone (Apple Pay) and the fees are reasonable!

330 for less than 1 hour,

430 yen for 1-3 hours

500 yen for 3-6 hours

570 yen for 6 - 12 hours

640 yen for 12-24 hours

Best of all, there are literally chargers EVERYWHERE. Even small shops have boxes with 6 chargers and you can borrow and return from any charging spot. I’ve seen them in Tokyo, Kawagoe, Okinawa, etc.

Really super convenient and makes it unnecessary to have a portable charger on hand.

Just note you can’t use youtrip or Revolut for this cause they are considered prepaid cards (can’t use debit cards either). So you’ll need a regular credit card for this, but I consider it well worth it!

... Read moreOne of the things I learned during my Japan trip is how Chargespot’s charging system is super convenient and budget-friendly. The rental fees are clearly set with options from under an hour to 24 hours, making it easy to plan depending on your daily needs. What impressed me most was that these chargers are literally everywhere—not just in major cities like Tokyo or Okinawa but even in smaller towns like Kawagoe. This wide availability meant I rarely worried about running out of battery. To rent, you just need a regular credit card, as prepaid cards like youtrip or Revolut are not accepted. I found this worth noting before heading out so that you don’t get caught off guard. Also, the entire process is seamless through the app, where you can locate nearby charging spots, borrow, and return chargers at any box—very convenient for travelers on the move. Personally, not having to carry a bulky portable charger made my travel experience lighter and hassle-free. For anyone visiting Japan, especially in cooler months or those who like to take many photos, using Chargespot could be a real lifesaver. Plus, it’s budget-friendly with rates such as 330 yen for less than an hour or 640 yen for a full day, so you only pay for what you need. Next time I travel, I’ll definitely rely on Chargespot for keeping my phone powered up throughout the day.
