Don’t stay stagnant in your relationship

I have been with my boyfriend for 1.5 years which in the grand scheme of things isn’t very long but I always want to be proactive in a relationship 💕

⭐️ One thing that I think tanks relationship is getting to comfortable, DONT STOP DATING YOUR PARTNER!!! Whether you go on one date a month or one date a week keep planning dates and little surprises for your partner🫶 My boyfriend and I always try new restaurants and always different foods.

⭐️ We have been lucky enough to travel to different cities and spend time wondering around those place! I challenge you to go out with your partner with no plan just see where the day/night takes you because I will say those have always been the best dates we have been on exploring wherever we went.

⭐️ Don’t wait for the holiday to be romantic! You don’t have to spend a bunch of money on a gift but bring home some flowers (they’re $10 dollars) or surprise your partner by cooking a romantic dinner!

... Read moreIt’s so true, preventing your relationship from becoming stagnant takes effort, but it’s absolutely worth it! My boyfriend and I have learned so much in our time together about keeping things fresh and exciting. Beyond those amazing date nights and spontaneous trips, I’ve found that true relationship growth comes from a blend of intentionality and everyday magic. One big area where we've really focused is communication. It sounds simple, but actively listening and regularly checking in with each other about our feelings, dreams, and even daily stresses has been a game-changer. Sometimes, we set aside 15 minutes each evening just to chat without distractions – no phones, no TV. It helps us feel truly connected and ensures we’re growing *together*, not just alongside each other. It’s like tending to a garden; consistent, gentle care helps everything flourish. Speaking of date nights, while trying new restaurants is fantastic, we've also discovered the joy of 'at-home' dates. Think about recreating a fancy meal together, just like preparing a romantic dinner with candles and our favorite music. Or having a themed movie marathon with snacks. These don't require leaving the house, save money, and still create that special date night atmosphere where we can be a smiling couple, fully present with each other. It’s about being creative with your time, not just your budget! Another thing that combats stagnation is shared learning and growth. Have you ever tried picking up a new hobby together? My partner and I recently started learning basic photography, and it's been so fun exploring our city through a new lens, finding beauty in places we usually rush past. It doesn't have to be a grand gesture like travel and exploration to new cities; it can be small, shared adventures that build new memories and skills. And those little surprises? They truly make a difference! It’s not just about spending money. Sometimes, I’ll leave a sweet note for him to find in his lunch, or he’ll bring home my favorite snack after work. And yes, a simple bouquet of flowers can brighten anyone’s day and show you’re thinking of them, without waiting for a special occasion. It's these consistent, thoughtful gestures that keep the romance alive and show appreciation daily. If one partner is a bit more hesitant to try new things or open up, I’ve found that leading by example and gentle encouragement works best. Instead of saying, "We need to work on our relationship," try, "Hey, I saw this cool [activity/restaurant/idea] and thought it might be fun for us to try this weekend!" Frame it as an exciting opportunity for both of you. Often, seeing your enthusiasm is contagious, and once they experience the positive outcome, they'll be more open next time. Preventing relationship stagnation is an ongoing journey, but with shared effort and a sprinkle of fun, your connection can continue to deepen and grow stronger every day.
