Sometimes, I really wish to have my mother in my life. We used to get along so well and I enjoyed hanging out with her.
Unfortunately, given the current political climate, talking with her has become too much. I work for a non-profit agency. When I tried telling my mom how the current political climate was affecting myself and my clients, she was adamant everything was fine. She is convinced they are only deporting criminals, doesn’t pay attention to the news at all but spews propaganda.
She does not care about things if they don’t personally affect her, and that is someone I cannot personally be around and also protect my sanity.

She will never truly understand what we go through as the younger generation. She does not care because she would rather keep her own peace than to trouble her mind with the dumpster fire of the political climate. I would also rather not concern myself with politics when everything is currently panning out to be a shit show. However, it is directly affecting me and so I HAVE to care. I don’t think that she means harm. Just trying to protect her peace in a world full of so much uncertainty and hatred.
