FAV FOODS IN ✨TOKYO✨

Japan
2024/9/29 Edited to

... Read moreWow, Tokyo's food scene truly blew me away! While my first post gave a glimpse, I wanted to dive deeper, especially into what made my taste buds sing. If you're like me and constantly searching for the 'best sushi' or 'fav sushi' spots, you're in for a treat. Let's talk sushi! Honestly, experiencing sushi in Tokyo is on another level. The freshness of the fish, often sourced directly from places like the Toyosu Market, is unparalleled. But it's not just the ingredients; it's the artistry of the sushi chefs. I had the most incredible Omakase experience – where you trust the chef completely – and each piece was a tiny masterpiece. It felt like a performance, with the chef carefully selecting and preparing each bite right in front of me, explaining the fish and its origin. If you have the chance, definitely try an Omakase; it’s pricy but absolutely worth it for a special occasion. For something more casual, even the neighborhood sushi shops serve amazing, high-quality rolls and nigiri. My tip? Don't be afraid to try different kinds of fish you might not find back home. Also, a little trick I learned: eat nigiri with your hands (it's totally acceptable!) and try not to dunk the rice side into the soy sauce – just a tiny dip on the fish side is perfect to enhance the flavor without overpowering it. Beyond sushi, Tokyo's culinary landscape is so diverse. I couldn't get enough of Ichiran Ramen. That personalized booth experience and customizable broth intensity was just perfect after a day of exploring. And speaking of unique experiences, who knew a 7/11 Egg Sando could be a revelation? It sounds simple, but trust me, it’s a fluffy, savory cloud of deliciousness you absolutely have to try for a quick, cheap bite. For meat lovers, Yakiniku was another highlight. Grilling your own premium cuts of meat at your table, dipping them in savory sauces – it’s such a fun and interactive meal, perfect for sharing with friends. And for something sweet or just a unique photo op, Cafe Reissue's latte art was adorable. They can literally create almost any character or design you request in your coffee – it's almost too cute to drink! Lastly, a special mention goes to Tsujihan. While not exclusively sushi, they specialize in Kaisen Don (seafood bowls), and their 'zeitaku don' (luxury bowl) was sublime. Piled high with fresh sashimi, sea urchin, and ikura, it was another unforgettable meal that showcased Japan's incredible seafood. Tokyo truly is a foodie paradise, offering everything from Michelin-starred dining to incredible street food and convenience store gems. I hope these extra tips and insights help you plan your own delicious adventures. What are some of YOUR favorite Tokyo eats? I'd love to hear them for my next trip!
