FAV FOODS IN ✨KYOTO✨

Kyoto
2024/9/30 Edited to

... Read moreOh, Kyoto! Every corner of this city felt like a culinary adventure, and I truly believe food is the best way to experience a culture. After exploring the iconic temples, my stomach was always ready for its next journey, and Kyoto never disappointed! One of my absolute favorite areas to just wander and snack was around Nishiki Market. While I didn't get to try every single stall, the atmosphere alone is incredible. You can find everything from traditional Japanese sweets to fresh seafood. I remember stumbling upon some amazing Grape Tanghulu – those candied fruits on a stick are just perfect for a sweet bite while you're exploring the bustling streets. For a more sit-down, traditional experience, I highly recommend places like WASONICHINICHI. I had one of the most beautiful and delicious bento boxes there, a true feast for the eyes and the palate. It’s those kinds of meticulously prepared meals that really showcase Japanese culinary artistry. And of course, you can't go to Kyoto without indulging in matcha! Everywhere you look, there's a new matcha treat to discover. I absolutely adored the Matcha dessert set I had, complete with creamy matcha ice cream and chewy mochi. And for a refreshing pick-me-up, the Matcha latte from GOKAGO was simply divine – so rich and perfectly balanced. Let's talk about the savory side! If you're a meat lover, Yakiniku is a must-do. Grilling your own meat right at the table is such a fun and interactive dining experience, especially with friends. But the real showstopper for me was the Katsu-gyu. Seriously, the image saying 'THE BEST THING I ATE IN JAPAN' from an OCR is no exaggeration! That perfectly fried beef cutlet, tender on the inside and crispy on the outside, served with various dipping sauces, was simply unforgettable. For something a bit different, I explored a place called AWOMB where they serve beautiful, artfully arranged sushi and appetizers, including make-your-own temaki sushi. It's a really unique and fun way to enjoy fresh ingredients. And for those late-night cravings or budget-friendly eats, don't overlook the convenience stores! I was pleasantly surprised by the 7/11 Pancake with Chicken. It sounds unconventional, but trust me, it's a surprisingly tasty and satisfying snack. Sometimes, the best food discoveries are the unexpected ones! Kyoto's food scene is so diverse, offering everything from exquisite fine dining to delightful street food and comforting everyday meals. My advice? Be adventurous, follow your nose, and don't be afraid to try everything that catches your eye. Every meal in Kyoto felt like a cherished memory, and I can't wait to go back for more!
