☀️ SUNSCREEN MISCONCEPTIONS I WISH I KNEW SOONER
Everyone says to wear sunscreen, but I feel like most of us were never actually taught how it works.
Sunscreen does not block 100% of the sun’s rays. It helps protect your skin, but it’s not a magic shield.
UVB rays are the ones most connected to sunburn. UVA rays are sneakier because they’re more connected to aging and dark spots. Visible light can also play a role in hyperpigmentation for some people.
That’s why broad spectrum, reapplying, hats, shade, and using enough product all matter.
A few sunscreen things I wish I knew sooner:
• Cloudy days still count
• Makeup with SPF usually isn’t enough by itself
• Higher SPF doesn’t mean you can skip reapplying
• Water-resistant doesn’t mean waterproof
• You still need SPF even if you don’t burn easily
• Sunscreen helps with dark spots, not just sunburns
• SPF works best when you actually use enough of it
Also, if sunscreen always feels greasy, burns your eyes, or breaks you out, it doesn’t mean you just “can’t wear sunscreen.” You probably just haven’t found the right formula yet.
