Places to Visit In Chicago

Downtown Chicago

... Read moreWhen I first ventured to Chicago, I was on a mission to find the best spots, and let me tell you, I found some absolute gems! First up, the Skydeck at Willis Tower (233 S Wacker Dr). Trust me, the view from the 103rd floor is breathtaking. I recommend going on a clear day, or even better, around sunset. Watching the city transition from daylight to a sparkling wonderland is an experience you won't forget. Stepping onto The Ledge, those glass boxes extending out, is such a thrill – definitely a must-do for some epic photos overlooking Lake Michigan and four different states! Next on my list, you simply have to try GIORDANO'S Deep Dish Pizza (130 E Randolph St). Chicago deep dish is iconic, and Giordano's truly delivers. I usually go for their classic deep-dish with sausage, but honestly, you can't go wrong. Be prepared for a wait, especially during peak hours, but it's 100% worth it. It’s a hearty meal, so come hungry or plan to share! For a dose of culture, The Art Institute of Chicago is unparalleled. I could spend an entire day here. With adult tickets at $32 (and kids under 13 are FREE!), it’s an incredible value for the masterpieces you get to see. From iconic works like 'American Gothic' to Monet's Haystacks, there's something for everyone. Don’t rush it; take your time to truly appreciate the collections. If you're visiting in winter, I highly recommend checking out some ice skating at Millennium Park – it's such a magical, festive experience! Even if skating isn't your thing, a stroll through Millennium Park is essential. You've got to see the famous 'Bean' (Cloud Gate) and snap some selfies. The park also hosts free concerts and events in the warmer months at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, so it’s always worth checking their schedule. And for a quintessential Chicago bite, Devil Dawgs on State (767 S State St) is my go-to for a delicious hot dog. Their 'Yummy Hot Dogs' live up to the name! Whether you're a fan of the classic Chicago-style dog with all the fixings or want to try one of their unique gourmet creations, this spot is perfect for a quick, satisfying meal. Exploring Chicago is a breeze. I always rely on the CTA (trains and buses) to get around; it's super convenient and saves you from parking hassles. Also, make sure to wear comfortable shoes because you'll likely do a lot of walking, especially if you're exploring the Magnificent Mile or the Riverwalk. Chicago truly has a vibrant energy, and I hope these personal recommendations help you discover some of its best downtown places and delicious eats!
