How I Transformed Leftover Rice and Tuna into This

Recently I found myself staring at some leftover rice and a can of tuna, and I saw a video from @kwokspot I decided to turn these humble ingredients into something special. You won’t believe how good it turned out!

Baked spicy tuna sushi completely changed how I view leftover rice and tuna. I can’t wait to make it again! If you’ve got some leftovers lying around, give this a try—you won’t regret it!

I will send the link to video see and see follow how it been made.

Here’s What I Used:

For the Spicy Tuna Mix:

- 1 can of tuna (5 oz), drained

- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise (I went with creamy Kewpie!)

- 1-2 teaspoons sriracha (I like it spicy!)

- 1 teaspoon soy sauce

- 1 teaspoon sesame oil

- cream cheese

- 1 tablespoons garlic powder

- Chopped green onions for some freshness

For the Rice Layer:

- 2 cups leftover cooked rice

- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar

- 1 tablespoon sugar

- ½ teaspoon salt

Here’s How I Made It:

- Reviving the Rice: I mixed the leftover rice with rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. transformed my plain rice into something tangy and delicious!

- Mixing Up the Tuna: In a bowl, I combined the drained tuna, mayonnaise, cream cheese, garlic powder, sriracha, soy sauce, and sesame oil. The flavors came together beautifully, and I couldn’t resist tasting it!

- Layering the Goodness: After preheating my oven to 375°F (190°C), I spread the seasoned rice over it like a delicious canvas, Sprinkle Sesame seed. And layer ur sliced avocado and finally followed by that spicy tuna mix. And little bit of mayo and sriracha I went all out!

- Broil to Perfection: I popped it in the oven for about 10-15 minutes, and the smell that filled my kitchen was heavenly.

-Slicing and Enjoying: Once it was golden and crispy, I sliced it into squares and served it with seaweed sheets. I couldn’t believe how tasty it was!

⭐️Overall rating: 10 /5

... Read moreYou know, one of the best things about discovering this baked spicy tuna sushi recipe is how incredibly versatile it is, especially when you're thinking about meal prep and making the most of your pantry staples. I’ve found myself making larger batches on Sundays, and it’s a total lifesaver for quick, delicious lunches throughout the week. This truly aligns with the idea of a 'budget tuna rice meal prep.' To keep it fresh, I just portion it into individual airtight containers and refrigerate for up to three days. When I’m ready for a quick meal, a few minutes in the air fryer or oven brings back that perfect crispy texture – it’s almost like it’s freshly made, which is fantastic for budget-conscious meals! I’ve also started playing around with variations to suit different tastes or even to make it a bit lighter. If you’re curious about things like 'crispy rice spicy tuna calories,' there are some easy swaps you can make. For instance, sometimes I lighten up the spicy tuna mix by replacing half the mayonnaise with plain Greek yogurt. It still gives you that creamy texture without as many calories. Instead of cream cheese, a good option can be a small amount of mashed avocado mixed in, adding healthy fats and a lovely richness. For an extra boost of greens, I’ve tried adding finely minced cucumber or bell peppers to the tuna, or even laying a thin layer of blanched spinach under the rice. To really amplify that 'crispy rice' element, you can press the rice down firmly and bake it a bit longer before adding your tuna mixture, or even pan-fry individual squares for extra crunch after baking – it’s a game-changer for homemade sushi! And when it comes to serving, while seaweed sheets are a classic, I love exploring other ways to enjoy these delicious sushi leftovers. It’s absolutely fantastic scooped into crisp lettuce cups for a refreshing, lower-carb option. Sometimes, I’ll serve it alongside a simple side salad, maybe a quick mix of chopped cucumber and a light sesame dressing. A sprinkle of furikake (Japanese rice seasoning) on top is a must for me – it adds so much flavor and a lovely textural contrast. If you’re like me and love extra heat, a drizzle of your favorite chili oil takes it to the next level. This dish truly showcases how a simple can of tuna and some leftover rice can be transformed into a gourmet-tasting, budget-friendly meal that satisfies those sushi cravings. It's proof that creative cooking with what you have can lead to the most delicious discoveries! Thinking about 'sushi leftovers' or 'leftover rice sushi' has never been this exciting. I often find myself intentionally cooking extra rice just so I can whip up another batch of this amazing 'spicy tuna bake' or 'tuna can sushi bake.' It’s such a clever way to avoid food waste while enjoying something incredibly tasty. Give these ideas a try – you won't regret it!
