Best ADHD Mom Apps

2023/11/10 Edited to

... Read moreAs an ADHD mom, I know firsthand how challenging it can be to keep all the plates spinning – school, home, work, and personal appointments, all while managing my own attention and energy. It's easy to feel overwhelmed, which is why finding the right tools has been a game-changer for me. Many of us are constantly searching for ways to streamline our lives, and 'self care apps like Finch' often pop up because they offer a gamified approach to well-being. While my go-to apps primarily focus on productivity, I've found that incorporating self-care elements into my existing organizational tools works wonders. For instance, I use a dedicated section in Notion to track my mood, gratitude, and even quick journaling prompts. Sometimes, just having a quick note in Notes about a positive moment or a thought to process later can be a form of self-care. It's about finding what fits into your routine without adding more friction. When it comes to an 'ADHD calendar app,' Google Calendar is my absolute lifeline. The visual layout, color-coding for different family members or activity types (like school, work, appointments), and customizable reminders are invaluable. For an ADHD brain, seeing everything laid out clearly helps with time blindness and ensures I don't miss crucial events. I always set multiple reminders for important tasks, and the ability to share calendars with my partner or co-parents makes coordinating family life so much smoother. It really helps manage the 'mom life app' aspect of our busy schedules. Speaking of 'mom life app' and 'my mom app' needs, tools like Notion become incredibly powerful. I've set up my entire family hub there – from meal planning templates to school project trackers and even a digital inventory for household items. It takes a bit of time to set up initially, but once you have your system, it’s a central source of truth for everything. This helps me manage the mental load that often falls disproportionately on moms, especially those of us with ADHD. Another common search is for an 'ADHD accountability buddy app.' While there are dedicated apps for this, I've found creative ways to build accountability into my existing systems. For example, using the shared list features in Google Calendar or creating shared projects in Notion with a friend or partner can serve a similar purpose. Knowing someone else sees my progress (or lack thereof!) often provides that extra push. Sometimes, even just setting timers in Minimalist for focused work sessions acts as a self-accountability tool, breaking down larger tasks into manageable chunks. The apps I mention – Notion, Notes, Minimalist, and Google Calendar – aren't just for productivity; they're about creating a supportive structure for the ADHD brain. Notion is incredible for its flexibility, letting you build custom dashboards for any need. Notes is perfect for those fleeting thoughts or quick captures before they disappear. Minimalist helps me stay focused on one task at a time, preventing overwhelm, and its clear interface reduces distractions. And Google Calendar, as I said, is essential for time management. All these tools, whether free or affordably paid, have truly helped me organize life, school, and home effectively, making the journey as an ADHD mom much more manageable and, dare I say, even enjoyable.
