For those that don't know, this is actually my second airline. I started flying in the middle of the panorama at a different airline y'all probably have never heard of.
I've never really shared this part of my life on this platform, and if I'm being honest, I don't really know why. My entire YouTube is essentially about my flight attendant journey and helping others get into this industry.
Being a FA has allotted me and my family so many travel opportunities and I've had classmates and crew members turn into amazing friendships.
It's not all glam trotting through the airport in my heels (although sometimes it is), but it can be hard work too. 4:50 am reports, waking up in your hotel in the middle of the night not knowing where you are (it was actually kind of scary (a)), not having a sleep or eating schedule, but would I change it for anything? Absolutely not!
If you want to the know the truth about being a FA, I mean the real, good, bad, beautiful and ugly or interested in starting this journey yourself, I really recommend checking out my YouTube channel, Ariel Rose International
... Read moreWow, it's truly surreal to hit this one-year milestone as a flight attendant! Time really flies when you're soaring through the skies. My journey actually includes upgrading my wings with a second airline, marking a total of two years in this incredible career. It's been a whirlwind, and I wanted to share even more about what it’s really like, especially for those of you dreaming of this path.
So, how do you even become a flight attendant? It's definitely more than just applying! The selection process can be intense, sometimes stretching over several months. You'll go through interviews, group activities, and background checks. Once you get that golden call, the training itself is rigorous. My training included weeks of intensive classroom learning, emergency procedures, safety drills, and service standards. It’s all about ensuring we're prepared for anything, from a medical emergency mid-flight to evacuating an aircraft in record time. It's challenging but incredibly rewarding, and it truly shapes you into a resilient professional, ready for any flight attendant journey.
The flight attendant lifestyle is often seen as glamorous, and parts of it absolutely are – waking up in a new international city, exploring different cultures, and enjoying those travel benefits with family. But let's be real, it's not always picture-perfect. My first year flight attendant schedule was a constant dance with time zones, early 4 AM reports, and late-night arrivals. You learn to live out of a suitcase and become a master of efficient packing. Finding a rhythm for sleep and meals can be tough, but you adapt. I've learned to value every moment of downtime and those precious hours to recharge, whether it's in a hotel room or back home.
Speaking of the daily grind, let's talk about looking the part! Uniforms are strict, and maintaining a professional appearance is key. For those of us with curly hair, it can be a challenge to keep it looking polished and neat throughout long flights. I've found that using moisturizing products and protective styles like sleek buns or low ponytails are lifesavers. And then there are the flight attendant boots. Comfort is paramount when you're on your feet for hours, pushing carts, and walking through terminals. Investing in high-quality, supportive black boots with good grip is a game-changer. Trust me, your feet will thank you after a long international flight!
This career has taught me so much about adaptability, problem-solving, and patience. The friendships you build with your crew become like family, especially when you're thousands of miles from home. Every day is different, every flight brings new experiences, and every passenger has a unique story. If you're passionate about travel, service, and aren't afraid of a little hard work and unpredictability, then exploring a flight attendant career might just be your calling. It's been an amazing adventure so far, and I can't wait to see what the next year brings!
Happy anniversary ❤️
