the BEST aquarium
Georgia Aquarium This was the absolute best aquarium i’ve ever been to. It’s also the largest aquarium in North America, housing many different species of marine life. Though it’s pricy, it’s definitely worth it. I got to watch a dolphin exhibit where the dolphins did awesome tricks, they had a zoo, penguins, and a cafeteria all indoors. The entire aquarium is 2 stories.

Stepping into the Georgia Aquarium, I was immediately drawn to the buzz around the Ocean Voyager exhibit – and specifically, that incredible ocean tunnel! Having heard so much about it, my expectations were sky-high, and let me tell you, it completely surpassed them. It truly solidified why many, myself included, consider this the best aquarium in America. The Ocean Tunnel isn't just a walk-through; it's an immersive journey. As soon as I entered, a moving walkway gently guided me, giving me a 360-degree view of the vast marine ecosystem. Above me, majestic whale sharks glided by with serene grace, their sheer size both awe-inspiring and humbling. Giant manta rays, with their elegant wing-like fins, seemed to dance through the water, while schools of countless fish swirled around in a mesmerizing ballet. It felt as if I was truly transplanted to the bottom of the ocean, without needing a wetsuit! One of the coolest parts is standing still for a moment (if the crowd allows!) and just watching the life unfold. Looking up, you can see the sunlight filtering through the water, illuminating the vibrant colors of the fish and the intricate patterns on the sharks. It’s an incredibly peaceful yet exhilarating experience. I found myself just staring, captivated by the sheer diversity and beauty of the marine life. The clarity of the water and the thoughtful design of the tunnel really make you feel connected to these creatures. For anyone planning a visit to the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, GA, and especially to the Ocean Tunnel, here are a few tips based on my experience: Go Early or Late: The tunnel can get crowded, especially in the middle of the day. Arriving right at opening or an hour or two before closing can give you a more serene experience, allowing you to take your time and snap some incredible photos without too many people in your shot. Look Up and All Around: Don't just focus on what's in front of you. The beauty of this tunnel is that marine life swims all around and above you. Keep your eyes peeled for those massive whale sharks making their slow, deliberate passes overhead. Take Your Time: While there's a moving walkway, you can also step off and walk at your own pace. I recommend doing this to fully absorb the spectacle. There are spots where you can stand to the side and just watch the aquatic ballet unfold. Photo Ops: The lighting in the tunnel can be tricky, but it offers some fantastic photo opportunities. Try to avoid using flash, as it can be distracting to other visitors and potentially the animals. Instead, rely on the ambient light for those stunning, moody shots. Beyond the Ocean Tunnel, the Georgia Aquarium impresses with its other exhibits, but the Ocean Voyager truly stands out as a highlight. It's a powerful reminder of the wonders of our oceans and the importance of conservation, making the $50 admission price feel completely justified for such an unforgettable adventure.
