wanna wake up early? STOP doing this!! 🫶

waking up early has sooo many benefits!! ⤵️

☀️ time to yourself collecting your thoughts and preparing for the day before you have to go to work, school, etc

☀️ more time awake during daylight hours (so important especially during winter when days are short!)

☀️ get a head start on the things you want to do/give you more time to get things done during the day

☀️ makes you feel productive, and practicing discipline gives a feeling of satisfaction

💛💛💛

i used to be SUCH a night owl! i would stay up till 12-2am every night, wake up late, wash and repeat.

i used to SWEAR by staying up late, because i felt like it was when i was most productive and creative. now that i’m in the habit of waking up early, i know how silly that was 🤦🏻‍♀️

trust me, if i can do it then you can too!!

💌 save this for later

... Read moreAs someone who used to be a night owl and struggled to embrace the early morning, I totally get how hard it can be to shift your sleep schedule. You might try all the tips – setting alarms, putting your phone away – but still wake up feeling groggy and hit snooze endlessly. For me, the game-changer was realizing the impact of what I ate, and precisely when I ate it. One of the biggest culprits sabotaging my early morning ambitions was my habit of *snacking before bed*. I thought a little something wouldn't hurt, but I was so wrong! When you eat, especially heavy, sugary, or fatty foods, your body has to work hard to digest it. This means your digestive system is still active when you're trying to sleep, which can prevent you from reaching the deeper, more restorative stages of sleep. Instead of truly resting, your body is busy processing food, leading to fragmented sleep and that dreadful feeling of not being fully rested when your alarm goes off. My personal rule now is to *don't eat 3 hours before bed*. This gives my body ample time to digest my last meal before I lie down. When your digestive system isn't working overtime, your body can focus on repairing and rejuvenating itself during sleep. The result? I wake up feeling genuinely refreshed, energized, and ready to tackle the day, rather than feeling like I've barely slept at all. It made becoming a '5 AM girly' feel achievable, not just a distant dream. If you're looking to break the cycle of late-night snacking before bed and unlock those productive early mornings, here are a few things that helped me: Plan your meals: Make sure your dinner is satisfying and balanced so you're not ravenous by bedtime. Include good protein and fiber to keep you full longer. Hydrate: Often, what we perceive as hunger late at night is actually thirst. Try drinking a glass of water or herbal tea if you feel a craving coming on. Find a relaxing evening routine: Instead of reaching for food out of boredom or stress, engage in calming activities like reading, light stretching, or listening to a podcast. This helps your mind and body wind down naturally. Listen to your body: Distinguish between actual hunger and habitual eating. Sometimes, we eat simply because it's a habit or a way to cope with emotions. If you absolutely must eat something within the 3-hour window, opt for something very light and easy to digest, like a small banana or a few almonds, but truly try to make it an exception. Making this change wasn't instant, but the positive impact on my sleep quality and my ability to wake up early was undeniable. It transformed my relationship with mornings and made me feel so much more in control of my day. Give it a try – you might be surprised at how much difference it makes!
