Did you know that birds love to eat eggs? 🍳

My husband and I thought it was so funny when we discovered that our birds loved to eat scrambled eggs just like us! They would always steal it from our plates when we had them out with us while eating breakfast. 😂

Now that I am in the process of trying to breed Exotic finches I give them something called egg food daily which is essentially scrambled eggs with other vitamins mixed in. If you have any questions about birds please comment them down below! 👇🏻

... Read moreWhen my husband and I first noticed our birds trying to snatch scrambled eggs from our breakfast plates, we thought it was hilarious! It got me wondering, 'Can birds really eat eggs?' And the answer, I discovered, is a resounding yes! Not only can they eat them, but eggs are actually a fantastic nutritional boost for many birds, especially during breeding or molting seasons. From my own experience with exotic finches, I've learned that eggs are a powerhouse of nutrition. Just like the OCR mentioned, they are packed with proteins and nutrients that birds need to be healthy! Specifically, eggs provide essential amino acids, vitamins like A, D, E, B12, and minerals such as calcium, iron, and phosphorus. These are all crucial for strong bones, vibrant feathers, and overall vitality. So, if you're asking 'Can birds eat scrambled eggs?' or 'Do birds eat boiled eggs?', you're on the right track! The key is in the preparation. Here's what I've found works best and what to avoid: Scrambled Eggs: This is a favorite in my flock! I always make sure to cook them plain, without any salt, butter, oil, or seasonings. Just a simple scramble until thoroughly cooked. You can chop them into small, manageable pieces for smaller birds. Hard-Boiled Eggs: Another excellent option. Simply boil an egg until it's firm, then peel it and mash it up. Again, no added salt or anything else. This is great for all bird sizes. Avoid Raw Eggs: Raw eggs can contain salmonella, which is harmful to birds just as it is to humans. Always cook eggs thoroughly. Avoid Fried Eggs: Fried eggs often involve oil, butter, and salt, which are unhealthy for birds and can lead to digestive issues or other health problems. I usually offer a small amount of egg food – which is essentially scrambled eggs mixed with other vitamins for my breeding finches – a few times a week as a treat or supplement. It's important to provide it in moderation, as eggs are quite rich. Always remove any uneaten egg after a couple of hours, especially in warm weather, to prevent bacterial growth. Now, about a specific query I often see: 'Why do lovebirds eat their eggs?' This is a different scenario than feeding eggs as a nutritional supplement. If lovebirds are eating their own eggs, it's usually a sign of a behavioral issue, not hunger for food. It could be due to first-time parents not knowing what to do, stress, a lack of essential nutrients like calcium in their diet (which can be helped by feeding them prepared egg food!), or simply infertile eggs. If you notice this with your lovebirds, it's best to consult an avian vet to rule out underlying health or dietary deficiencies. In conclusion, whether you have finches, parakeets, cockatiels, or larger parrots, offering cooked eggs can be a wonderful and healthy addition to their diet. Just remember to keep it plain, cooked, and in moderation. My birds absolutely adore their scrambled egg treat, and I hope yours will too!

Eggs in my Bird of Paradise?!
My bird of paradise gave us a surprise, courtesy of my quail strudel. She jumped out of her habitat to the plant next to it, pooped out her eggs and then hopped back in her home. We saw the eggs in there and then we watched her do it! She's keeping them safe in there ❤️ #coturnixquail #petso

The image lists foods to help wild animals during cold weather, including uncooked oats, cooked rice, suet, and seeds. It features a red cardinal, a yellow finch, and a chickadee, emphasizing that bread has low nutritional value. The text also includes 'THANK YOU FOR CARING!'.

🌨️ When the cold sets in, food grows scarce. A handful of oats, seeds, or suet can mean survival. Peanuts, rice, or baked potatoes — small kindness, big impact. Skip bread when you can — it fills but doesn’t nourish. Each meal you share keeps the wild alive a little longer. 🕊️

5 Reasons You Should Have Ducks
1. I won’t pretend that all duck flocks are rainbows and fairytales. I’ve definitely had some aggressive drakes! But usually I was able to fix that by making sure I had the right drake to hen ratio. Chickens are known for being pretty aggressive, going after injured birds and pecking them to death.
