Products that Didn’t Work for My Natural Hair

These natural hair products didn’t work for me and my natural hair routine.

1️⃣ Design Essentials Almond and Avocado Mousse - I have better foams in my arsenal that I love at a similar price point. I felt like this foam left a heavy film on the hair. I have a full review on my channel on this one.

2️⃣ The Doux Crazy Sexy Curl - This foam does not perform better than Mousse Def which is one of my favorites. I did a full review on my YouTube channel. This foam also irritated my allergies with the almost sickly honey smell to it. It did dissipate over time but it wasn’t worth the sneezing for me.

3️⃣ The Doux Big Poppa - Again, this gel didn’t work for me and my wash and go goals. It was very heavy glycerin and polymer feeling on the hair. It is more marketed as a one product styler but it didn’t work me and my humid environment.

For in depth affordable natural hair styling products, check out my YouTube channel “It’s True Destiny”.

... Read moreIf you're on a journey to find the right hair products for your natural hair, it's crucial to consider your hair type and the specific results you desire. The market is flooded with products claiming to enhance curls and provide moisture, but not all deliver on their promises. For instance, ingredients like glycerin and heavy polymers can weigh hair down in humid conditions, making products like The Doux Big Poppa less effective for those seeking light, bouncy curls. When evaluating a product, pay attention to its ingredients and consider starting with samples or smaller sizes. Many brands offer travel-sized versions of their products, which can help you avoid wasting money on large bottles of products that you may not end up using. Additionally, joining communities on platforms like Lemon8 or following natural hair influencers can provide first-hand reviews and recommendations. Always remember that hair care is highly personal. What doesn't work for one person may work wonders for another. Don't hesitate to experiment and find out what truly suits your unique hair needs, and keep an eye on those products that are trending in the natural hair community!
