MY CANDLEBUSINESS TIPS

My candle business tips!

Recently my niece was inspired by me to start her own candle business and here’s some tips I have shared with her.

Start with at least 2 to 3 products. Offer a standard size candle, mini candle, wax melts or room sprays.

Start with 4-5 scents. I feel this is so easier to keep track of especially when it comes down to inventory. Try to pick scents from the popular scent families. Fruity, floral, spice, woods and gourmand.

Once you have that make a total of 36. This is like the key, it’s a small batch and it helps with practice of pouring, temp control and creating muscle memory.

It’s essential to separate your personal and business finances to ensure a clear understanding of your profits and expenses. Create social media accounts on platforms like Instagram and TikTok to showcase your products and engage with customers. Additionally, participating in local farmer's markets and festivals can provide excellent exposure for your brand. Don’t forget to create business cards to distribute, helping potential customers to remember you. Documenting your journey not only helps you improve but also builds a narrative that potential buyers can connect with. Testing various scents in small batches ensures quality control, and by finding inspiration from fellow candle makers, you can refine your craft. Remember to have fun throughout the process, as passion shines through in your products!
