5 Things You’ll Never Find in My Christmas Decor

The older I get, the more I realize how much I value simple, intentional holiday decor. And part of that is knowing what doesn’t work for my space.

So this year I continue to embrace it and share my personal ‘never list.’ 🎄

Here are the Christmas decor items that just don’t fit my home:

– Giant inflatables

– Flocked trees

– Figurines everywhere

– Tinsel

– Oversized toppers

What about you? What’s something you never decorate with? 🎅

... Read moreWhen decorating for the holidays, many people seek ways to create a joyful, festive atmosphere without clutter or overwhelming the space. Over the years, I’ve learned that simplicity in Christmas decor not only brings a sense of calm but also helps maintain a cohesive style throughout the home. One of the biggest no-no’s for me is giant inflatables on the lawn. While they can look cute at night, the reality is that during the day they tend to deflate and look messy, turning into sad fabric piles. This inconsistency makes them harder to maintain and less visually appealing overall. Flocked trees, which are popular for their snowy appearance, might seem magical but come with downsides like excessive shedding and persistent white dust. These clean-up challenges are frustrating and detract from the enjoyment of having a fresh Christmas tree that stays green and vibrant. I also avoid filling every surface with figurines. Tiny Santas, reindeer families, and nutcrackers may be traditional, but too many figurines can create a cluttered feeling that doesn’t match my home’s atmosphere. Instead, I prefer focused decor pieces that complement the space without overwhelming it. Tinsel is another element that often causes frustration. It tangles easily, sheds excessively, and tends to stick to clothes and carpets like confetti, making it hard to clean up even after the season ends. Choosing to skip tinsel keeps my home tidier and the decorating process more enjoyable. Finally, oversized tree toppers are a frequent source of anxiety because a large topper can make a tree appear unbalanced and prone to tipping over. I opt for more proportionate decorations that enhance the tree’s natural beauty without risking accidents. Ultimately, creating holiday decor that fits your personal style and living space leads to a more intentional and peaceful holiday season. What decor items do you avoid to keep your home feeling just right? Sharing what doesn’t work for you can inspire others to discover their own unique approach to holiday decorating.

not all holiday decor is worth the money! it’s so easy to get excited about a cute piece online or in store, only to bring it home & realize it doesn’t quite work. I found this cute rattan tree at home goods but I didn’t realize how tall it was! once it was home, it didn’t really fit my space.
