What I’ll Never Put In The Dryer Again

Dryer is a great invention but it’s still a machine and not for anything. I found out in a hard way😭🧺

I got a cute baby yellow sweater for my DC trip and I forgot not to use dryer and it shrank into a “for my future child” size. I love that hat for summer and now it’s weird to wear. My silk looking bedding lost its shine forever. And don’t get me started on the my faux leather skirt, I lost her forever 😩(I only can use a belt for this photo to represent this category 😅).

So now these things are officially in my “air-dry only” items. And I hope I’ll never forget again💗

So, what have you ruined in the dryer? Let’s help each other avoid more heartbreak 💔

... Read moreUsing a dryer can be convenient, but it’s important to recognize that not all fabrics and items are dryer-friendly. For example, sweaters often shrink and get fuzzy when exposed to dryer heat. To maintain their shape and texture, it’s best to flat dry sweaters on a drying rack. This technique reduces the risk of damage and prolongs the garment's life. Hats, especially those with hard shells, are prone to losing their shape and becoming stiff if dried in a machine. A smart solution is to air dry them while stuffing the inside with clothes or soft materials to help retain their form. This way, your favorite summer hats keep their look and comfort. Silk bedding and garments also require delicate care. Dryers often cause silk to lose its natural shine and become dull. Hanging them in a well-ventilated bathroom or laying them flat on a drying rack helps preserve the fabric’s beautiful sheen and softness. Stretchy fabrics like spandex swimsuits are another category to avoid the dryer. The heat damages both the stretch and water-resistant properties, effectively ruining the fabric. Hanging swimsuits to air dry helps them retain elasticity and even freshens up your laundry space. Lastly, materials such as leather, faux leather, and suede cannot withstand dryer heat. Exposure leads to cracks, peeling, and stiffness. Instead, wiping these items clean and letting them air dry naturally ensures they stay supple and intact. By understanding which clothes and items to air dry and how to do it properly, you can prevent heartbreak caused by shrinking, warping, or dulling fabrics. Share your own drying tips or dryer mishaps to help others treat their clothes with the care they deserve and extend their wardrobe’s life.
