... Read moreMy recent trip to Norway was absolutely soul-stirring, and while every corner of this beautiful country holds a special charm, a particular highlight for me was exploring Stavanger. If you're planning a visit, you absolutely cannot miss the Stavanger harbor promenade. I remember walking along that waterfront promenade, feeling the crisp Nordic air, and just soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. It’s not just a walk; it’s an experience. The colorful buildings lining the harbor, the boats gently bobbing in the water, and the distant views create such a picturesque scene. I even spotted some charming cafes right on the water’s edge that were perfect for grabbing a coffee and watching the world go by. Beyond the promenade itself, Stavanger’s Old Town (Gamle Stavanger) is just a stone's throw away and feels like stepping back in time with its beautifully preserved white wooden houses. I loved wandering through the charming, cobblestone streets, discovering little boutiques and art galleries. It’s incredibly photogenic! And speaking of art, I was captivated by a large, colorful street art mural depicting a troll-like figure on a building in Bergen, but Stavanger also has its own share of public art that adds to its unique character. For my fellow foodies, the original article mentioned fantastic food, and Stavanger certainly delivered. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of restaurants offering excellent gluten-free (GF) options, making dining out a breeze. From fresh seafood straight from the North Sea to cozy cafes serving traditional Norwegian pastries, my taste buds were on a continuous adventure. And truthfully, I didn't find it as pricey as I expected, especially if you look for local spots. When it comes to weather, just like in the main article, I highly recommend checking the forecast right before you go. I had packed for everything – from winter jackets to summer clothes – and it turned out to be unusually warm. However, even on a cloudy day, the dramatic landscapes, like those around Geirangerfjorden which I also visited, or the majestic Jostedalsbreen glacial lake, are simply breathtaking. The beauty of Norway is that it offers stunning visuals no matter the season. Whether you're enjoying a yellow kayak on the calm waters of a fjord or hiking through green mountains, the views are endless. Communication was incredibly easy too, as most locals speak English, just like the original article mentioned. This made navigation and asking for recommendations a joy. Whether you're kayaking in a fjord, hiking in the mountains, or simply enjoying a city stroll, Norway is truly an 11/10 destination. So, pack your bags, prepare for incredible views, and make sure Stavanger, especially its charming harbor promenade, is on your itinerary!
