Here’s why remote work is the ONLY option for me

1️⃣ Access to Opportunities: My niche field (resume writing + job search strategy) pays better remotely unless I commute to the nearest metro—over an hour away.

2️⃣ Commute: That’s 2+ hours gone daily. I’d miss mornings with my son and only see him at bedtime.

3️⃣ Work/Life Balance: A long commute plus office hours = no time for my family.

Other reasons remote work works for me:

✨ Mental Health: I have highway anxiety + thrive in private, distraction-free environments.

✨ Physical Health: No coworker germs risking my well-being.

✨ PTO: I rarely call off now (3 times in 3 years vs. countless office sick days).

The problem isn’t remote work—it’s hiring processes. Many companies overhired post-pandemic and now use “return to office” policies as a backdoor for layoffs.

💡 Remote work thrives at companies who were doing it long before 2020. Want to be the ideal fit for a remote role? Showcase your performance on your resume—don’t just list duties!

... Read moreRemote work has become a necessary option for many professionals, offering flexibility and improved work-life balance. Individuals in specialized fields, like resume writing and job search consulting, find that remote work allows for better compensation and productivity without the stress of commuting. In addition to time savings, remote work environments can foster mental and physical health, enabling employees to thrive without the distractions of an office. Mental health benefits, such as reduced anxiety, and physical wellness, through decreased exposure to illness, have made remote working arrangements increasingly appealing. Furthermore, to stand out as a candidate for remote roles, it’s vital to showcase not only relevant experience but also the outcomes and achievements associated with your work. This shift towards remote positions aligns with the evolving job market, as many companies adopt flexible policies established before the pandemic. Overall, remote work presents a strong case for those seeking sustainability, family time, and improved job satisfaction. It’s important to remain aware of the changing hiring landscape, especially as some companies revert to traditional office settings. This push for re-entry may be strategically used for layoffs rather than legitimate needs for office-based work. Being well-prepared and informed about industry trends can help remote job seekers navigate their careers successfully.
